DPWH to boost Bulacan Arterial Road Bypass Project capacity

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that it is planning to boost the vehicle carrying capacity of the Bulacan Arterial Road Bypass Project. 

According to the agency, it will open two lanes in the arterial road to serve the growing number of motorists traveling and in time for the anticipated long-weekend for the Barangay Election and observance of traditional Undas or All Soul’s Day.

The opening of the “7.74-kilometer widened section from Brgy. Tambubong to the Philippines-Japan Friendship Highway or Daang Maharlika Highway in Barangay Maasim including the 318-meter (m) flyover at the intersection along Kalsadang Bago and a 36.9-m bridge” will be recommended to Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH said in a press release. 

Per DPWH, the two aforementioned lanes are all under Contract Package 4 of the Arterial Road Bypass Project-Phase 3 in San Rafael, Bulacan. 

Phase 3 — said Senior Undersecretary Emil Sadain — is “expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the economic activities and productivity in the eastern part of Bulacan and the adjacent province of Nueva Ecija.”

DPWH has prepared a punch list to ensure that the two lanes are safe and ready for public use. The list includes checking of the road’s structural integrity by checking for visible cracks and damages. 

Additionally, the punch list requires the checking of guard rails, barriers, lighting, and drainage systems. 

Should there be no problems, the aforementioned lanes of the Bulacan Arterial Road Bypass Project will be open by October 2023.
