Hyundai i20 Cross Sport is soon to enter the Philippines market and is a perfect blend of a hatchback and sport utility vehicle. Its target being the active and adventure loving Filipinos, the question is will it be able to bend consumers’ interest towards itself or will it be left alone and soon forgotten like many.

Another car falling under the same body design as i20's is Kia Soul. This smart amalgamation of beauty and ruggedness is a choice of many, but the question is, is Kia under any kind of threat from the entry of i20 Cross Sport. Priced more or less same, both offer an array of features and justifiable power output. But there are some areas where i20 has a lead over Kia and some others where the situation is completely visa-verse.

Engine wise, i20 Cross Sport is offered with two engine options, one being petrol and other diesel, where else Kia comes in a single petrol option, but it offers more power over i20. Though, Kia is offered with a six-speed automatic transmission, but i20 again has an edge here, as comes in both manual and automatic gear box. And when living in the Philippines like traffic situation, an AT will eat more fuel, so a big NO NO. But one who is hungry for comfort can still go for it.

Dimension wise, Kia is longer and wider car, but ground clearance is lower than that of i20, offering 170mm of the same. Good for flood prone country like ours.

Getting over exterior and interior design, i20 looks more like an up to date urban commuter and closer to the crossover design theme. But Soul has a distinct design theme, adding to its head turner feel. Tech wise i20 wins but Kia has a better entertainment unit. Music lovers listen up!

Last but not the least, safety. Hyundai i20 Cross Sport is the sure short winner here, as it is equipped with better and more features.

So, Hyundai's i20 looks like a winner over Kia in many areas, but there are many others in Hyundai's way from which the brand can get some tough competition.
