MMDA upgrades NCAP web portal with new features

MANILA: The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) has received some notable upgrades for its online web portal. The aforementioned, as the agency says, makes it more convenient to use for vehicle owners, and is in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s efforts to proliferate digital innovation in public service. 

Specifically, the NCAP website has been made more accessible as it now allows motor vehicle (MV) owners to look up if they have any active violations. This can be done easily by entering a car (or motorcycle’s) MV file number and plate number. 

Additionally, transport network vehicle service (TNVS) operators, as well as those who have multiple cars in their garages, can now add multiple MV units under a singular account. The aforementioned is likewise touted to benefit fleet operators working in ride-hailing, logistics, and commercial vehicle industries. 

Moreover, one can also contest a violation ticket in the NCAP web portal through its newly launched “E-Contest” feature. This can be done by creating a ticket, filling out a digital form, and uploading the necessary documents. This will then be followed by an email notification once an officer from the MMDA Traffic Adjudication Division begins the evaluation of one’s E-Contest entry. 

Also, the MMDA has signed a partnership with GCash to enable motorists to pay for their traffic and littering fines through the GCash smartphone app (under the pay bill section). Each transaction under this new feature comes with a P7 convenience fee. 

“With the new features made available in the May Huli Ka website, motorists can now check on their records anytime and anywhere as we continually improve on the system and make it more inclusive,” MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes said.

Latest MMDA updates

Per the MMDA, the NCAP’s network has grown to 186 artificial intelligence (AI) cameras, 348 closed-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras, and 100 body-worn cameras. Thanks to the aforementioned, the system has already registered 252,315 violations, of which 119,345 were validated. 

The agency has also rolled out several traffic intervention measures on Marcos Highway, which runs from Quezon City to Infanta, Quezon Province. The aforementioned includes the installation of more traffic signage, more traffic management personnel, upgrading of traffic barriers, reconfiguration of U-turn slots, and closer cooperation with local government units.
