New VUHL 05RR street-legal track car revealed at 2019 Race of Champions
MANILA: The Mexican supercar maker, VUHL has launched the 05RR at the recently concluded 2019 Race of Champions organised in Mexico City. The 05RR is a new street-legal track car which provides the drivers with an ultimate driving experience both on the road and the racetrack.
The 05RR is based on the VUHL 05, which is the manufacturer’s first ever vehicle to come with less weight but more power. The manufacturer claims that the 05RR weighs a mere 660 kilograms. The main reason behind the low weight is the addition of light-weight carbon fibre parts. In fact, even the VUHL 05 base car is 65 kilograms heavier than the 05RR.
Under the hood of the VUHL 05RR, there is a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine which is tuned to offer a better power output over its standard variant. This enables the engine to provide an additional 115 PS of power and 100 Nm of more torque. The mill is capable of churning out a maximum of 384 PS of power along with a peak torque of 600 Nm. The base VUHL 05 can produce up to 289 PS and the peak torque is around 500 Nm. A new sequential paddle-shift transmission helps to channel the power to the rear wheels.
The power-to-weight ratio of the VUHL 05RR is now improved at 600 hp/ton due to the increase of power and light-weight carbon fibre parts. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 90 kmph in a matter of 2.7 seconds and can hit a top speed of 255 kmph.
The manufacturer has also made changes in terms of designing to improve the aerodynamics of the car. The VUHL 05RR also comes with a new air intake setup along with new trim bits all around and a large fixed rear wing.
