PH-bound Toyota bZ4X to come from Japan, TMP says

MANILA: The Philippine-bound Toyota bZ4X will be sourced directly from Japan, the brand’s local arm shared.

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) shared the aforementioned information following the growing number of inquiries about the battery electric vehicle (BEV) in anticipation for its official availability in the country, which is expected to happen before the end of the year.

This was the claim of TMP President Masando Hashimoto in a press statement, saying that the dealerships where the incoming Toyota bZ4X will be offered have been receiving inquiries since the pre-order period started last November 7.

“We are encouraged by the positive reception by the public to the news of bZ4X local release,” Hashimoto was quoted as saying.

“Understandably, one of the most asked questions is the average range of the EV. While actual consumption and range will vary based on conditions and driving habits, we were able to register 570 km of EV range. This is based on the internationally accepted Fuel Consumption Test Protocol under UN Regulations No. 101.”

The introduction of the all-new Toyota bZ4X is part of the brand’s strides in the country to forward its multi-pathway approach towards carbon neutrality.

 Powering the vehicle are electric motors running on all-wheel-drive configuration mated to a 73.11 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. This setup lets the electrified crossover provide peak churns of:

Based on Land Transportation Office documents, the all-new Toyota bZ4X also has a fumes-free range of up to 456 kilometers and can go as fast as 160 kilometers per hour.

Lastly, the vehicle’s pricing will range from P2.699 million to P2.719 million — depending on the color, which ranges from Dark Blue Mica, Platinum White Pearl Mica, and Emotional Red.
