Pirelli launches 'puncture-sealing' feature

MANILA: Power Tractire Incorporated (PTTI) has introduced the Pirelli’s puncture sealing feature to the Philippine market.

Called “Seal Inside”, the aforementioned technology was brought to the country through the marque’s Cinturato Rosso line.

Per the brand’s local distributor, this newly-launched feature allows the driver to continue their journeys without the need for roadside intervention.

Here are some bits of facts about the Pirelli Seal Inside seen in the Cinturato Rosso line for the Philippine market.

Pirelli’s tires with Seal Inside technology features a sealing layer inside the tire that covers the entire treadband area.

Once an object punctures the tire, the seal mastic (held by a thin membrane), sticks to it — creating a seal if it remains in the tire. If the foreign object is removed from the tire, the sealing mastic covers the hole as well as its edges.

Its effectiveness on the puncture has a maximum diameter of six millimeters (for the hole).

Amid its usefulness, Pirelli still recommends periodical inspection on the tires (once per month or before a long drive) upon a puncture damage.

Aside from safety and everyday practicality, Pirelli’s new tire line for the country offers quietness, smooth handling, and comfort. According to PTTI, the Cinturato Rosso comes with a fully grooved tread pattern and a noise-reducing central rib design.

Suitable for modern sedans, crossovers, and sport utility vehicles, the Pirelli Cinturato Rosso with Seal Inside will be offered in 16-23 inches in sizes — with prices ranging from P6,000-P11,000.
