Race for charity vs. Audi DTM drivers in PlayStation Network
MANILA: Put your Gran Turismo skills to the test during this lockdown in a PlayStation 4 racing series that kicks off on April 21, 2020 at 8 p.m. CEST (Central European Summer Time).
Called #RaceHome, it will be a weekly race between gamers and the six Audi DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) drivers Loïc Duval, Jamie Green, Nico Müller, Robin Frijns, René Rast and Mike Rockenfeller using a fully electric Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo. “Since there are no real races happening at the moment, because of the corona crisis, SimRacing is experiencing an incredible boom. We are deliberately going our own way: #RaceHome is focusing on sports cars with electric drive and is therefore in line with Audi’s focus topic in the change of mobility. We have decided on a console game because we can reach a particularly large community in this way,” said Rockenfeller, the 2013 DTM champion.
PlayStation Network members can either bid for a spot on the grid every week or win it through a contest by sending in a design of the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo that incorporates the #AudiTogether and #WeStayHome program. The artwork will be judged by the six Audi DTM drivers.
All proceeds of the race will go to members of the motorsport family that have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There are many freelancers in motorsport who have lost their income from one day to the next and are fearing for their own existence,” added Rockenfeller.
All races in the series will be livestreamed for free on www.twitch.tv/visionrcco.
