Smart mobility solution seen to help ease transport woes amid MECQ

MANILA: With the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) being implemented in Metro Manila and select provinces, those who were relieved when public transport opened upon easing of restrictions are facing challenges once more.

Therefore, government is urging companies to offer shuttle services specifically for frontliners and essential workers since the prohibition of public transport has become a prevailing concern during this time. This is where SWAT Mobility comes into the picture.

SWAT Mobility, a Singapore-based smart mobility solution, targets to offer businesses with a reliable and efficient approach in ferrying employees amid the MECQ. It uses the most advanced in vehicle-routing technology to deliver a comfortable, accessible, and safer ride for employees.

The company utilizes real-time monitoring to give drivers the ideal route for each trip. The driver's dashboard is also continuously updated with reports of accidents, unexpected road closures, and others. The fleet can also offer workers the option to be picked up at their houses or at an agreed-upon location.

The way SWAT Mobility partners with businesses is that only approved workers can have access to the SWAT Mobility application for booking of rides. Clients will have a variety of options to choose from and each one of them will be catering to a specific type of worker or demand trend.

The Commute Pass line, for instance, is ideal for workers who have a fixed working schedule and would prefer to reserve rides for one whole month. As for those who have shifting schedules, the Just In Time line enables users to book for a ride upon the need arises.

Chief Revenue Officer of SWAT Mobility Nicholas Stipp said that the abrupt shift from the general community quarantine (GCQ) back to MECQ shows that the investment in a transportation solution for workers is urgent.

SWAT Mobility has a comprehensive list of clients and collaborations in the Philippines.

To date, the company collaborated with Toyota Philippines to provide services to staff leasing and co-working provider, KMC Solutions. Moreover, it was through this approach that KMC was able to perform automation of 90% of its previous manual work in running a corporate shuttle fleet while increasing the performance of its fleet by up to 30%.

Aside from this, SWAT Mobility has designed an application that allows users to conveniently reserve seats on point-to-point (P2P) buses. The solution also enables operators like DNS to effortlessly digitize its operations, making them suitable for transportation during the new normal.

SWAT Mobility also collaborated with the Toyota Mobility Foundation in line with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Free Ride for Healthcare Workers program. The project was essential for frontliners to be provided with close-to-door rides and this demonstrates how advantageous their solutions are not just for private companies but for the public.
