KEY TAKEAWAYS
When and where was the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup 2025 Race Weekend 2 held?
The event was held last May 23-25 in Villar City. How long was the street track used in the TGR Philippine Cup 2025 Race Weekend 2?
The makeshift track is 2.4-kilometer-long street circuit that had 14 turns, including two hairpins and six chicanes. The crowd watched racers in the four classes under Novice, Sporting, Super Sporting, and Legacy gun it for a spot at the podium in the street race held last May 23-25 in Villar City.

These racers showed their grit and skill behind the wheel as they navigated the 2.4-kilometer-long street circuit that had 14 turns — including two hairpins and six chicanes.
It was an eventful three-day event as wheel-to-action between racers provided excitement to the crowd leading to loud cheers from the grandstands. Tough competition also led to road crashes — one of them involving TMP President Masando Hashimoto.

While it was a scary sight, those who figured in crashes remained safe, thanks to the numerous safety features that the car and drivers have.
Among these are:
- Race-prepped Toyota Vios that comes with roll cages and racing seat and five-point seat belts
- Drivers equipped with fireproof racing suits, gloves and helmets with Head and Neck Support
- Races conducted under the supervision of the Automobile Association Philippines
According to the Japanese automaker’s local arm, the brand applies the same safety standards to its road cars via Toyota Safety Sense, airbags and various control systems.

“Toyota Global Chairman Akio Toyoda always emphasizes the importance of ‘driving, breaking, and fixing’ in vehicle development. By repeatedly driving and breaking cars in the race environment, he discovers further areas for improvement and strengthens the cars as a master driver. Based on this corporate mantra, Toyota will continue to pursue safer vehicle manufacturing and accessible racing in the future,” the company president noted.
Race weekend 2 winners
With the new challenge that the makeshift track offered, household names as well as new ones in the said racing series took their spots at the podium.
