Up close: Suzuki PH previews local-spec Suzuki Fronx

MANILA: Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH) previewed the Fronx for the local market.

The advance display was made at the ongoing Matsuri 2025 — one of the events lined up for the year in celebrating the company’s 50th anniversary.

Said to compete against the Toyota Raize and Kia Sonet, the aforementioned model was developed based on the concept of an easy-to-handle coupe style sport utility vehicle. It is already being sold in more than 70 countries around the world (which include India, Latin, America, Africa, and Japan).

The Suzuki Fronx’s Philippine-spec offering will likely come from the marque’s Indonesia production facility in Chikarang — the second country that manufactures the said nameplate. The neighboring country started the Fronx’s production last month.

While SPH has yet to announce the model’s official launch date, here are some facts about the vehicle as checked in overseas markets.

The said crossover has the following measurements:

Powering the vehicle abroad is a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine that could come with an integrated starter generator and a lithium-ion battery for a mild-hybrid setup. Such mills are mated to either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

On the outside, the Suzuki Fronx wears flowing body lines and an overall beefy look complemented by the following portions:

• Solid front grille
• Split-design lamp

The model displayed at the Suzuki Matsuri 2025 sits on 16-inch wheels.

Overseas, the vehicle's interior is equipped with:

• Seven- to nine-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity.
• Head-up display
• Optional wireless charger
• Rear air-conditioning vents

Expected to be part of Suzuki Fronx’s standard and optional technologies are:

Given that it will make its presence felt in the subcompact SUV category, the Suzuki Fronx is expected to be priced at around P1.1-P1. 4 million.
