Ducati Hypermotard 950 and SP unveiled

MANILA: Ducati’s hyper bikes are no less than of its competitors. And in order to keep the reputation such, the Italian automaker unveiled the latest version of two of its motorcycles, the Hypermotard 950 and the Hypermotard 950 SP. However, this unveiling has come just a couple of days before the EICMA.

The new iterations of the Ducati Hypermotard 950 and SP are slightly revised over its predecessors. Aesthetically, the two new motorcycles are lighter than before, thanks to the new chassis build. Also, the aerodynamic has been improved greatly in order to offer a slightly better dynamics to the riders. The chassis is now around four kilograms lighter than what it was before.

Apart from the better aesthetics, the company has added more bits of electronics too, in order to be in line with the extra power output. Some of the additions are wheelie control, traction control EVO, clutchless shifts for both up and down, cornering ABS from Bosch, and slide by braking function. All of these are added as the standard fitments for the 950 SP while the 950 gets it as extra add-on accessories.

The two bikes now ride on 937 cc engine that makes more power than the outgoing model (by 5 PS). The new power output is 115 PS, along with better torque that comes at a stable rate to offer better throttle response and pulling power.

The other highlights on the body of the Ducati Hypermotard 950 and 950 SP include a small tank shroud and a fully digital instrument console. Moreover, the seat is slimmer now, which makes footing the ground easier for people who aren’t very tall. The forks at the front and the exhausts at the rear get black colour treatment to complement the motorcycles’ outlook. The suspension is sourced from Ohlins and has the Marchesini wheels. This has been done in order to shed off excess weight.

The company presently sells the Ducati Hypermotard 939 and 939 SP in the Philippines market. Hence, the new version’s introduction isn’t spoken about yet.
