Lambretta launches J Starwave special edition at 2024 EICMA

MANILA: Lambretta is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the iconic Junior (J) scooter model with the launch of the J Starwave special edition at the 2024 Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori (EICMA) 2024.

Just like the original Lambretta J, the Starwave special edition version embodies the lightweight and lighthearted “beach culture” aesthetic that graced the nameplate 60 years ago. 

According to the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, the model only weighs 135 kilograms and has a seat height of 790 millimeters. It also sports a surfboard-like design element on its front face and elongated rectangular side panels as a tribute to the Milan-based company’s classic design traditions. 

The retro-inspired body of the J Starwave is further enhanced by a spaciously long seat, the brand's signature hexagonal headlight, and plenty of silver-colored decorative trimmings. Additionally, the special edition model’s looks can be altered through option customization kits, which can add front stripes and fenders. 

The J Starwave unit shown at EICMA 2024 comes with a 124.6 cubic centimeter (cc) four-stroke, liquid-cooled engine capable of producing produce up to 12.2 horsepower (hp) and 11.5 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

A 200-cc mill outputting 17 hp and 15.5 Nm of torque is also available for the J lineup, but it was not indicated if the larger engine was made available for the special edition trim. 

Per Lambretta, the J Starwave’s selling period will start in June 2025. It wasn’t disclosed if the model will reach the Asian market, but the Italian marque’s local arm currently offers the V-Special 125, V-Special 50, V-Special 200, X300, X125, and G350.
