Suzuki GSX-8T, 8TT win Red Dot Award for Product Design

MANILA: Suzuki GSX-8T and GSX-8TT were hailed by the Red Dot Design Award—securing the brand’s first ever recognition from the award-giving body.

In a statement, the Hamamatsu-headquartered marque received the Product Design Award after it translated “Suzuki’s classic visual identity into a clearly structured, modern aesthetic.”

“By combining heritage-inspired design with contemporary engineering, Suzuki demonstrates its ability to evolve iconic styling into modern form,” Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) shared in a statement.

SMC Managing Officer and Executive General Manager Takashi Ise expressed elation and gratitude over the recognition given to the two street motorcycles.

“We are honored that the GSX-8T and GSX-8TT have received the prestigious Red Dot Award. Both models are neo-retro street bikes that appeal both the unique and attractive elements of Suzuki’s past iconic models, and modern performance,” he said.

“Designed to suit a wide range of riding situations, from everyday use to touring, they offer enjoyment to customers across diverse lifestyles. Suzuki upholds the corporate slogan of ‘By Your Side’ and will continue to make efforts to create products that satisfy our customers in both performance and design,” he added.

Since 1955, the Red Dot Design Award has recognized outstanding design excellence across industries such as furniture, home appliances, automobiles, medical equipment, and IT devices. The organization evaluates entries using nine criteria, which include innovation, functionality, ergonomics, durability, ecological compatibility, and emotional appeal.

Here are some details about the two models, which were introduced to the Philippine market in August 2025.

Motorcycle specifications

The two naked sport motorcycles both get liveries that expressed a neo-retro design complemented by:

• GSX-8T-specific mono-round headlamp
• GSX-8TT’s mini cowl similar to that of the Suzuki GS1000

Aside from that, these two models are fitted with beefy 16.5-liter fuel tanks, sporty handlebar end mirrors, tapered aluminum handlebars, and cast aluminum wheels wrapped in Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tires. 

The creature comforts that can be found in these pair of two-wheelers include:

• HY battEliiy P-series starter battery
• USB Type-C charging port
• Five-inch color TFT display
• Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS)

For safety, the GSX-8T and 8TT feature anti-lock braking, multi-modal Suzuki Traction Control System, Easy Start System, and the “Low RPM Assist Function.”

Powering both models is the 776-cubic-centimeter, parallel-twin, double overhead cam engine paired with a six-speed transmission with shift-by-wire technology.

Assuring stability and controllability are:

• Tubular steel chassis
• Upside-down front fork and link-type rear suspension system
• Dual (front) and single (rear) disc brakes
• Dual-stage catalytic converter

At the time of the launch, SPH priced the Suzuki GSX-8T at P699,000, while the GSX-8TT, P729,000.
