Suzuki to field sustainable race-spec GSX-R1000R at Suzuka

MANILA: Suzuki Motor Corporation is set to enter the 2026 FIM Endurance World Championship, specifically the Suzuka Eight Hours Endurance Race, under the Experimental Class with a heavily modified version of the GSX-R1000R. 

The aforementioned motorcycle will be ridden by the Team Suzuki CN Challenge, which is entirely composed of employees of the Japanese company. 

Notably, the Team Suzuki CN Challenge has already been competing in the Suzuka Eight Hours with the goal of demonstrating that motorcycle racing can have minimal environmental impact and be highly sustainable. 

Their previous season, however, was hampered by a crash. Fast forward to 2026, however, Team Suzuki CN Challenge says that it is stronger than ever, with significant support from fans and partner companies, as well as an upgraded GSX-R1000R race motorcycle. 

For reference, here are all the sustainable components utilized by Team Suzuki CN Challenge at the upcoming Suzuki Eight Hours Endurance Race:

For those who want to see the Team Suzuki CN Challenge and their race-spec GSX-R1000R, be aware that the Suzuka Eight Hours Endurance Race is scheduled to commence from July 3-5, 2026, at the Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture, Japan.

PH-spec Suzuki GSX-R1000R

In the Philippine market, the Suzuki GSX-R1000R is offered as a flagship sportbike with a suggested retail price of P1.219 million. 

Propelling the Philippine-spec GSX-R1000R is a four-cylinder, dual-overhead-cam (DOHC), liquid-cooled engine capable of producing up to 194 horsepower and 117 Newton-meters of torque. 

The model also uses a six-speed constant mesh transmission, an injected fuel system, and a 16-liter fuel tank. Its suspension consists of an inverted front fork and a rear link, both with oil-damped coil springs, while its braking system features dual front and single rear disc brakes.
