Honda CB650R is available in 3 different colors - Candy Chromospehere Red, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Matte Jean Blue Metallic.
With the CB650R, Honda has managed to hit two birds with one stone – while it is tracing the conventional bracket of a 650cc middleweight category, it has managed to do so with an all-new package, especially in terms of the visual appeal of the motorcycle. To affirm its new identity over its predecessor, Honda has renamed the motorcycle from CB650F to CB650R. Priced at Php 501,000, the Honda CB650R is being offered in a single shade called Candy Chromosphere Red.
Gone is the bulky and Honda CBR 650F sans-fairing design of this 650cc roadster – the CB650R now gets an all-new visual identity of its own. In this process, Honda has blessed the CB650R with a very concept-bike like styling, which makes it look unique when compared to its peers.
The Honda CB650R now gets a circular headlamp which is a full LED unit and comes with integrated with daytime running LEDs as well, akin to what we have already seen on the Ducati Monster series. To make the front fascia look more modern and futuristic looking, the CB650R is the first motorcycle from Honda to get LED turn indicators. At the top of the headlamp sits a small trapezoidal tinted visor, which makes the face look good. However, it is least useful in its job of cutting out windblasts at higher speeds.
Also, the side profile has been completely redesigned with a curvier fuel tank and simpler extensions along with minimalistic design for the side body panels. Even the tailpiece, as well as the LED taillamp, have gone under the hammer. This, as a result, makes the CB650R look bolder than before, despite being looking less muscular than the previous version.
Another big change on the new CB650R is the smaller but much more modern looking fully digital instrument console. It surely shows all the data as it did before, like speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters, and clock, except that they all are now housed in a single screen. A gear indicator is also present on the digital instrument cluster.
The new Honda CB650R ditches the rather simpler and cost effective suspension setup of CB650F. Instead, it gets a more sophisticated combination of Showa separate function upside down forks at the front and a monoshock with 10-stage pre-load adjuster along with an aluminium swingarm at the rear. Compared to its fully faired version, the globally available CBR650R, the suspension has been kept on the stiffer side to match its roadster character.
Unlike the CB650F, the new CB650R gets a split seat setup – while it is not as roomy as the single piece of CB650F, it gets the job done quite adequately.
The only aspect that the new CB650R retains from the erstwhile CB650F is the basic engine. It is still the same four stroke liquid cooled inline-four 649cc engine which was offered on the CB650F. This engine, however, comes with a minor bump in performance. While it now develops 95 PS of maximum power – almost 4 PS more than before, the peak torque rating is still 63 Nm. Like before, the engine is mated to a smooth 6-speed gearbox.
With dual 320 mm petal discs at the front and a single 240 mm petal disc at the rear, the CB650R has got an excellent halting power. Apart from the compulsory addition of ABS, the CB650R also gets ‘Honda Intelligent Security System’ (H.I.S.S.) - a feature standard on Honda’s flagship superbikes. This system automatically disables the starting of the engine in case a wrong key is inserted in the keyhole.
With an all-new neo-retro design along with numerous new world equipment, the CB650R is now a much more futuristic looking and feature packed than the motorcycle replaces – the Honda CB650F. In the process, while the CB650R has become slightly compact, it is now more powerful and agile than ever before.
The Honda CB650R has a great fan following among those who want a little more powerful bike for daily commuting and occasional highway trips. The Honda CB650R is very stylish. It has a very sporty-cruiser feel. It’s in fact a multipurpose bike. The round headlight and the fattish fuel tank forge a menacing look on the CB650R. The seat is
The Honda CB 650 R is probably one of the best bikes to have been introduced with a street-styled body! Packing a 650cc engine, this bike is unlike the ones which you might have come across earlier. Packing seamless riding features, accompanied by the best of tech from the brand, I feel that the 650 R is by far one
Honda has never disappointed us with its high-performance bikes, and Honda CB650R is no exception either. I have been using this bike for about two years, and it has all that I ever needed. Cruising around the town as well as on highways has been really amazing with my Honda CB650R, as it always delivers comfort and performance. It has
The Honda CB650R has a great engine. It’s powerful, has great low-end torque and accelerates beautifully. That’s why it’s also a great cruiser bike while having sports bike elements. The retro-styled headlight and the fuel tank lend the bike a masculine look. It’s compact and so handling is much easier than any other bikes in its class. The handlebar is
Being a pro rider, I tend to get highly fussy when it comes to selecting my bikes. Say, now I prefer mid weight bikes instead of lightweight ones. Side by side, I look forward to quality sessions of entertaining fun filled rides that only some skilled machine can offer. Know where I got all those and much more? I got
Discussion about middleweight motorcycles always center around the Triumph Triple RS and the KTM Duke 790. Not many people talk about the Honda CB650R. But this bike has a lot of character in its styling and does stand out from the crowd. The front is neo-retro styled, like all bikes on Honda’s CB series. It’s a powerful two-wheeler but is
The Honda CB650R has everything that a sports-commuting bike needs. It has aggressive looks, a great design language, a powerful engine, and gives high performance. The Honda CB650R looks identical to the Honda CBR650R. It’s only that the CB650R is naked-faired. I have driven both bikes and the experience was very similar. The Honda CB650R looks better. The engine revs
Cherish riding the bike for long hours due to its exclusive power factor and light weight stature. Even if it is not a big sized bike this is not going to deprive you of fun elements while you go for long rides on this. I am mesmerized at the exclusive engineering aspect of the bike. Affordability is another plus point.
I have always loved Honda bikes more than any other company, be it, Yamaha or Kawasaki. Honda bikes have superb high-speed stability and that keeps them planted on the road even if you ride over 200 kmph speed. If you thought that the classic headlight and deceiving naked street design was everything to like in it, wait till you ride
Ever since I came around the sports niche, the 650R has been one of the best bikes of my liking. Designed to resonate to looks similar to the big brother CBR, the bike seems to be out of the racing track. The bike is a piece of pure sport and the design is adapted from sports. I love the performance
