Out of the Hyundai’s entire lineup in the Philippines, the Ioniq EV positions itself as a niche and premium offering, with the intentions of having zero carbon emissions to make the environment a better place. The premium Hyundai Ioniq EV is based on the regular Ioniq Hybrid, and comes with a single all-electric powertrain option.
The Hyundai Ioniq EV thankfully looks like any other conventional luxury car from the inside and ditches the now very common EV cabin with blue highlights. The all-black cabin with bronze highlights is something that we haven’t seen in an electric vehicle.
The flat bottom multi-functional steering wheel along with full TFT colored instrument console makes the driver’s cockpit look very premium and futuristic at the same time. The wide centre console too looks quite unique with tapered edged housing for the touchscreen infotainment system and a trapezoidal housing for buttons for automatic climate control. Even the tunnel between the front seats looks premium with bronze highlights and piano black finish around the transmission lever and other controls.
The five-seater cabin of the Hyundai Ioniq EV feels spacious with enough room at the front and back. The cabin is impressively equipped with premium features that are usually found in a luxury sedan and SUV.
As said above, the Hyundai Ioniq EV is based on the Ioniq Hybrid, which is quite evident from the way it has been styled and bears a striking resemblance with the standard Ioniq, barring few changes giving it the typical electric vehicle aura.
At the front, the Hyundai Ioniq EV comes with a large stretched black grille, with the side extensions of the grille stretching the way till below the sweptback headlamp assemblies. The headlamps do come with all LED projectors and daytime running LEDs. The front bumper also sports vertical trapezoidal air inlets on either sides.
The side look of the Hyundai Ioniq EV has a fastback appeal to it, with the roofline sloping down all the way to the edge of the boot, much like what we have seen from the first-generation Toyota Prius. The five-spoke machined alloy wheels, as well as the thin chrome shoulder line extending to the top edge of the rear window, are a couple of premium touches on the sides.
At the rear, the sharply raked rear windscreen, along with high boot lid with piano black finish at the middle and curvy LED tail lamps with pointy edges, make the Ioniq EV look very sporty. The rear bumper comes with additional black finish stretching horizontally across it, with reflectors on either ends.
The Hyundai Ioniq EV gives a very conventional sedan like feeling in its driving experience. The car comes with Macpherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear, and rides on 16-inch wheels – the balance of which gives the Ioniq a very smooth and supple ride quality. The steering is on the lighter side, which makes the in-city driving very easy and comfortable.
The Hyundai Ioniq EV is powered by a 28 kWh Lithium-ion electric battery, which through the permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, generates a maximum power output of 119.7 PS and a peak torque output of 295 Nm.
Being a premium electric vehicle, the Hyundai Ioniq EV is loaded with enough top-notch safety features like front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, electric parking brake, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera and many more.
The Hyundai Ioniq EV is one hugely impressive coming of age product with a touch of conventional appeal as well, which can be sensed in the way it has been designed in and out. The stylish silhouette on the outside, as well as a luxurious cabin full with features on the inside, making this a great combination of style and luxury. With good performance and great ride and handling balance, the Hyundai Ioniq EV makes up for a practical car with high levels of desirability.
Now how can you overlook this car even if you get to see this amidst many of its sibling cars. The major thing that stroke me when I set my first glimpse on this vehicle is its small size and yet being quite a competent car. I got to know about its competency and reasonable price range while I showed
You can get this car in market in both all electric model and hybrid and plug in hybrid models. If you ask me one common factor that is present in each of these cars then I should specify about the awesome fuel economy and bigger cargo space. You can avail these cars with huge warranty period as well. Though there
The trend of electric cars is spreading like wildfire but in a country like ours, it is still not a feasible option. I decided to bite the bullet and bought the Ioniq electric. Getting used to an electric car takes a bit of time initially, instant power and no gears needs getting used to. After that, it is a breeze
