The XE has something distinctive to offer when it comes to utility/infotainment system. Its command centre is termed as InControl Touch, which operates the climate, satellite navigation and audio system. The InControl attributes encapsulate InControl Protect that is an emergency calling feature. InControl Secure protects the car from mishandling with information transformation to the legal authorities. InControl Connect functions for heating/cooling the car through an app. Wi-Fi Hotspot enables the commuters to have a seamless Internet connectivity via powerful cellphone and data signals. It has a fantastic audio system, which comprises production through 12 channels and 11 speakers along with a sub-woofer. This is created by the Digital Signal Technology (DSP), that delivers accurate music acoustics. The interior space is not very spacious yet is made to look very swanky.

The Jaguar XE has got head turning appearance, with design been executed in the most appropriate proportions. It has an aerodynamic body that enhances its performance all the more. The XE has got five variants under its model fleet namely XE SE, XE Prestige, XE R-Sport, XE Portfolio and XE S. The XE SE possesses three trims in its line up all powered by a 2.0L i4 turbocharged mill with different performance. One of which delivers the power of 163 PS, the other churns a power of 180 PS and the last one is capable of churning 200 PS of power. The gearbox is offered in two choices - 6 speed and 8-speed electronic automatic transmission. The XE Prestige has again one engine with different performance categories, that is being built on a 2.0-litre i4 turbocharged diesel engine. The said engine under Prestige delivers the maximum power of 163 PS, 180 PS and 200 PS respectively. The 163 PS and 180 PS variant have the option of a 6-speed manual and 8-speed electronic automatic transmission. Whereas, the 200 PS version has an 8-speed electronic automatic transmission. The XE-R Sport is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces the power of 163 PS, 180 PS, 200 PS and 240 PS respectively. The 163 PS and 180 PS based models have a choice between 6-speed manual transmission and 8-speed electronic automatic transmission. Whereas the 200 PS and 240 PS variants have an 8-speed electronic automatic transmission. The XE Portfolio has three performance levels, having a capacity of 2.0-litre i4 turbocharged diesel engine churning out 163 PS, 180 PS and 240 PS respectively. The first two have an alternative 6-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed electronic automatic transmission. The last one has an 8-speed electronic automatic transmission. Lastly, the XE S variant is based on one engine that has a capacity of 3.0-litres V6 that gives an output of 340 PS. It comes paired to an 8-speed electronic automatic transmission. Overall it has an aluminum body, which is light in weight yet very sturdy. Being lightweight also helps in preventing high levels of CO2 emissions.

The Jaguar XE takes safety into high consideration, where it provides some exclusive features besides the generic ones. The attributes list as Adaptive Cruise Control, ISOFIX car seat safety system, Autonomous emergency braking, Lane departure warning, Blind spot monitor, and Traffic sign recognition. The Traffic sign recognition is a highly smart feature that allows one to scan the area and detect the maximum speed limit along with tow away areas. It accordingly informs and warns the driver to take an appropriate action. For a feasible driving experience all the vital information gets displayed on the windscreen. This is backed by the presence of Laser Head up display, which prevents deviation while driving. Additionally, the AEB system keeps a vision of drive path and applies brakes incase of any anticipated collision.

Verdict

Jaguar XE is a classy stud catering to the people with high-life and who are status oriented. On a positive side, it is highly drivable, elegant and sophisticated. Whereas on the negative perspective its boot space is constrained, the interior space is quite congested. Lastly, its heavy on the pocket (high price tag).
