About Jaguar Philippines
Read MoreA brand with humble beginnings, Jaguar was founded by Sir William Lyons and William Walmsley in the year 1922. In the early years, the brand was known by the name Swallow Sidecar Company and used to be a motorcycle sidecar manufacturer.
It was in phase one of the brand’s development, during the year 1935-59, where the company started laying the foundation of its product line. Introduced with a strong design feature, Jaguar name came with the first-ever car named as the 1935 SS Jaguar 2.5l Saloon.
With the change in time, the brand developed a strong and profound brand image with its models like XK120, XK140, XK150. Moreover, the E Type was one of the favourites and came to the liking of people like Enzo Ferrari.
Before becoming the big brand that it now is, Jaguar had its share of mergers between automobile manufacturers like the British Motor Corporation and British Leyland during the 1960s. However, it was in the year 2008 when the company decided to hand over the full ownership of Jaguar to Tata Motors.
Tata Motors, the biggest automobile manufacturers in India, later created the Jaguar Land Rover Automotive. The company formed was formed to be a British automotive company and was responsible for the research and development of the present Jaguar and Land Rover models.
In the Philippines, Coventry Motors Corporation is the official distributor of the Jaguar and Land Rover models. Currently, Jaguar offers five new car models in the Philippines. Lastly, the Jaguar XF, Jaguar F-PACE, and the Jaguar XE are the chart-topping cars from Jaguar in their respective car segments.
As per the sales report from 2019, Tata Motors reported a sale of 13,801 units of Jaguar Land Rover as of December. Similarly, Jaguar Land Rover achieved 125,787 units. For the year 2020, the company looks forward to a more electrified future for its cars.
