Jetour G700

If the Jetour G700 appears brutish and muscular on the outside, its cabin looks and feels plush and refined on the inside. There is an abundance of soft-touch materials around the cabin. The first row is a nice place to be in, while the second row is even better thanks to its captain seats with an 8-mode massage functionality. The third row has adequate space for passengers with the average Filipino height. However, larger and taller passengers might find its rear a bit cramped. On the plus side, this SUV comes with an expansive trunk space at the back. 

Moreover, Jetour really went all out with the G700’s technology. The driver is treated to a high-tech cockpit that includes a multi-function leather steering wheel with a sporty flat top and bottom design, a rotary dial, and a 35.4-inch Skyline screen, which is placed on top of the dashboard. This Skyline screen acts as the driver’s instrument display. 

For entertainment and information accessibility, this SUV comes with a 15.6-inch central touchscreen display at the front and a 17.3-inch ceiling-mounted screen for the rear occupants. Its infotainment offers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a voice assistance feature, and is paired with an 18-speaker Lexicon Sound System by Harman Kardon (with a 900-w amplifier). Rear occupants can also adjust the cabin’s temperature through an 8.8-inch screen. And, to complete the overall interior vibe, this SUV comes with ambient lighting and a sunroof.

For starters, the Jetour G700 measures 5,198 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,956 mm in height. This plug-in hybrid SUV comes with a wheelbase of 2,870 mm and an impressive ground clearance of 230 mm, which enhances its overall off-roading capability.

The Jetour G700 flaunts a macho, off-road design, which exudes immense strength and confidence wherever it goes. Upfront, it sports an imposing grille that proudly displays the “JETOUR” lettering. It emits a hypermodern flare, courtesy of its C-shaped matrix LED headlamps with LED DRLs. It also comes with fog lamps for increased visibility, especially at night. Its blacked-out chunky bumper with a steel molding adds more ruggedness and sportiness to its overall demeanor. And, it also comes with front towing hooks on each side.

Furthermore, the G700’s boxy architecture is most apparent from the side. It features an appealing two-toned silhouette, accentuated by blacked-out pillars, door handles, bulged fenders, side sills, and retractable stepboards. This SUV runs on a robust-looking set of 20-inch wheels.

Meanwhile, its modern, rugged personality carries over to its rear. Its back end is illuminated by unique-looking B-shaped LED tail lamps and a high-mounted third brake light. It also comes with a spare tyre cover for an added classic vibe. And, similar to the front, it also comes with another pair of towing hooks on each side. Overall, the Jetour G700’s exterior is designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind.

The Jetour G700 comes with front and rear double wishbone independent suspension. This SUV effectively passes through bumpy, uneven concrete pavements as well as rocky and muddy off-road trails, while ensuring that all passengers are comfortable and at ease inside the cabin. It is also quite maneuverable and light to steer for its size. Ultimately, this SUV is capable of delivering a supple ride regardless of road conditions.

The Jetour G700 runs on a hybrid system that combines a 2L turbo engine with dual electric motors. Its electric motors are powered by a 34.13-kWh battery pack, which offers a pure EV range of over 100 km. Combined, its entire hybrid system delivers 904 hp, 1,135 Nm of torque, and a 1,200-km driving range. This SUV comes mated to a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission system and utilizes an electric all-wheel drivetrain.

That said, this SUV’s hybrid system boasts instantaneous power and torque out on the open road. It is a tremendously capable vehicle, which can effortlessly overtake slower cars on free-flowing highways and/or take on steep inclines even with a full load. Its cabin also boasts a top-notch NVH suppression system. All things considered, the G700 is a reliable daily city driver and an outstanding off-roader for your weekend adventures.

In terms of safety, the Jetour G700 is equipped with multiple advanced driver assistance systems, which includes blind spot detection, rear traffic alert, lane change assist, and door open warning, an auto park assist technology with 12 ultrasonic radars, front and rear differential locks, and a total of 11 airbags. This plug-in hybrid SUV utilizes ventilated discs for both front and rear braking. Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, and roll over protection.

In my opinion, the Jetour G700 is a near-perfect rugged SUV option for both modern-age drivers and traditional adventure-seekers. It effectively blends a powerful plug-in hybrid technology with outstanding off-roading prowess. Yet, it remains cost-effective and very usable inside the city on a daily basis.
