Peugeot 3008

The cabin of the Peugeot 3008 breaks all the conventional barriers of interior design and is one of the most refreshing and futuristic looking cabins one can get in its price segment. The unique layout of the cabin might take some time to get used to, but is indeed leagues ahead of what you get in other midsize SUVs.

The driver’s cockpit looks very cool with the two-spoke steering wheel and a full-TFT instrument console positioned behind it. The steering wheel comes with flat edges on its upper and lower parts and a gloss black finish with chrome-finished controls on the spokes. The slightly high-placed instrument console is a 12.3-inch full TFT display, which features Peugeot’s unique 3D i-cockpit design with funky looking display options.

The wraparound design for the centre console not only looks cool but is also thoughtful and ergonomic in its design. The upper part of the centre console gets a free-standing 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with sleek looking angular AC vents below it. The lower part of the centre console has toggle-like switches on a silver-finished panel with the wireless charging pad below it. The flat panel housing the transmission lever and drive mode controller is finished in gloss black.

The cabin of the Peugeot 3008 is heavily equipped with features like a panoramic sunroof, push start-stop button, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents and a 6-speaker audio system.

Among all the midsize SUVs currently on offer in the Philippines car market, the Peugeot 3008 is easily one of the most dramatic-looking offerings in the segment. The overall design is very extroverted and gives a hint of how thoughtful are the designing minds working at Peugeot. While the extremely extrovert design might seem a bit extreme for some traditional SUV design lovers, there is no denying the fact that it is worth catching one’s attention.

At the front, the Peugeot 3008 has got a slim looking frameless design for the grille, which gets headlamps attached to its upper corners and slim looking stripes on its sides. The inverted U-shaped design for the headlamps looks very distinctive, and what’s more unique here is the vertical arrangement for the daytime running LED, which commences from within the headlamp and stretches down towards the front bumper. The front bumper gets hollowed gloss black scoops on the sides and slim body cladding at the bottom.

The distinctiveness in the design of the Peugeot 3008 is carried on the side profile as well, with unique-looking bulges on the front and rear fenders, which are adjoined with a sharp crease flowing through the door panels. The presence of chrome on the upper boundaries of window panels and the bottom edges of the door panels add a premium essence to the side profile, and so do the 18-inch Los Angeles machined alloy wheels.

The Peugeot 3008 looks sporty and broad from the rear, with the SUV getting a smoked effect for the clear lens LED tail lamps on the corners which are adjoined by a gloss black panel in between them. The sharply raked rear windscreen with broad looking C-pillars and roof-mounted spoiler make this SUV cross the traditional bars of design.

Despite its high stance and large dimensions, the Peugeot 3008 has got well-sorted driving dynamics, with the SUV striking the fine balance of a push ride quality and dynamic handling and cornering even at higher speeds. The four grip modes of the traction control – Normal, Snow, Mud and Sand – provide enough grip levels on even rougher surfaces.

The only engine option available for the Peugeot 3008 is a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox as the standard transmission option. In its best form, the engine pumps out a maximum power output of 165 bhp and a peak torque output of 240 Nm.

The extensive list of safety features offered in Peugeot 3008 include six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, dynamic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, hill start assist, hill descent control, active blind-spot monitoring system, active lane keep assist, advanced driver attention warning, 180-degree reverse camera and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.

With a striking design and a unique and futuristic looking cabin, the Peugeot 3008 further impresses with the way it performs with its turbocharged petrol engine and well-sorted ride and handling balance.
