SERES 5

The high-tech and futuristic-looking cabin of the Seres 5 has the same features and layout in all three versions. There are five leather upholstery options to choose from: Burgundy, Black, Camel, Beige, and Ivory. The last three options have a faux wood finish stretched across the dashboard and door panels for a richer cabin experience.

The interiors of the Seres 5 feel new-age, with a 10.25-inch full-TFT instrument console behind the two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel (12.3-inch screen in the Seres 5 SF EV). A huge 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes centre stage in the centre console, while the Seres 5 also has a soft-touch leather finish for the middle layer of the dashboard.

Continuing its sense of modernity, the Seres 5 also has a few other top-class features like a panoramic glass roof, Nappa leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, 12-way powered and ventilated front seats with massage function, heated front and rear seats, powered tailgate and more. 

All three versions of the Seres 5 have the same curvaceous design language and silhouette, though they differ from each other in the designs of their front and rear bumpers. The bonnet, door panels, and fenders have smooth contours flowing over them, and the Seres 5 EV has sleek wing-shaped LED headlamps as standard across the entire range.

These headlamps have curved eyebrow-themed daytime running LEDs as standard, with the Seres 5 also having 20-inch alloy wheels (with different patterns in all versions) and sleek-looking LED tail lamps with connected LED light bars between them. The front bumper of all three versions looks different, with the EVR having a trapezoidal air dam and vertical LED DRLs on the corners, the EV having slim vertical air curtains on the corners, and the SF EV having curved L-shaped extensions of the LED DRLs flowing downwards. 

All three versions of Seres 5 come standard with the same suspension setup comprising an independent double wishbone with four ball joints at the front and independent trapezoidal multi-link at the rear. The advanced all-wheel drive in dual-motor variants and four driving modes further fine-tune the driving experience, though the steering feedback lacks precision and feels very artificial.  

Starting with the Seres 5 EVR, the petrol-electric hybrid version has a combination of a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (115.5 PS and 190 Nm) and a 40kWh lithium-ion battery, which claims a pure electric range of 184 km in the Comfort variant and 158 km in the Premium variant. While the Comfort variant gets a rear-mounted electric motor (266.4 PS and 354 Nm), the Premium variant has a dual-motor setup (486.7 PS and 664 Nm) as the primary power source. 

The Seres 5 EV has a rear-mounted electric motor (272 PS and 360 Nm) in the Comfort variant and a dual-motor setup (496 PS and 675 Nm) in the Premium variant. An 80kWh battery is standard in both variants, claiming 602 km in the Comfort variant and 534 km in the Premium variant. Lastly, the Seres 5 SF EV has a dual-motor setup as standard, which churns out 584.6 PS and 940 Nm, while accompanied by a 90kWh battery that claims 530 km range. 

The Seres 5 is packed with a comprehensive suite of Level-2 ADAS features, such as lane departure warning, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane cruise assist, auto parking assist, lane change assist, rear interspersed warning, door opening warning and vehicle to load. Other safety features in the Seres 5 are six airbags, ABS with EBD, 360-degree parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, traction control, electronic stability control, and tyre pressure monitoring system.

In all three versions in which it is on sale, the Seres 5 offers an exhilarating performance while on the go. While it feels artificial in its driving dynamics, the Seres 5 positions itself as a technically advanced electric vehicle with a high feature and novelty factor.
