Honda RS 125 is commuter segment two wheeler which was originally introduced as a Grand Prix motorcycle in the 125cc category. The year 1980 was the year when the first version of this moped was introduced in Japan to perform and its throttle punch in the Japan road race championship. The current generation RS 125 holds a design which has been made very simplistic and without any much of the glittery substance. This moped is a practical vehicle which houses in a reliable engine good for daily commuting.

Looks, Design, and Styling
Honda RS 125 holds a simplistic design where the lustrous thing is the graphics placed on the upper body. The front is barely housing any fancy stuff, it has a trapezoidal headlight with its mask. The front wheel is covered with a main body colored fender. Honda places this moped under its underbone vehicle category, that means, the frame flows in a more comfort oriented fashion where the rider gets space in between the seat and the handlebar. The body flows through the front panel from the meter console and touches the foot board. In this kind of two wheelers, the engine is mounted under the body horizontally and transfers the power to rear wheel wheels. One can sum down the underbone scooter as a cross breed of scooters and motorcycles. They are designed in a bike’s body like style with scooter’s practicality. To give it some sporty character, the Honda RS 125 is provided with under the engine cowl as well. However, we didn’t like it much but people can always spread flair with it. The seat is cushioned properly and is made for comfort position on which a couple can sit well. At the rear, there is a single unit tail lamp which houses all the necessary lightening component in it i.e. stop lamp and blinkers.
Engine and Performance
The 125cc OHC air-cooled Honda engine under the bone is efficient and good to respond on various speeds; it has the adequate amount of power with a good punch of torque, making it responsive in all terms. The mill churns out 9.4PS of power at 7500 rpm with 10.4 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. It is mated to a 4-speed rotary type manual transmission. Though the figures are not so exciting here and you may find the RS 125 quite dated in terms of its specs, but it still has some value for which you can invest. The primary goal of this vehicle’s introduction is to present people with a city friendly bike which can easily drag through congested traffic while keeping the economy maximum.
Brakes and Handling
Though there is no flaunting object in this moped, but practicality is filled at its best. The front wheel is equipped with disc brake and the rear is boasted with drums. For a 125cc moped, front disc brakes do enough to manage the potential. Apart from that, the 132mm of ground clearance is fair enough to tackle the ups and downs of any terrain. In terms of handling the bumps and jerks, the front is boasted with telescopic forks while the rear has two spring type units. There is nothing extravagant in this vehicle which may surprise you with its ability in safety terms, but what it has, is sufficient for its purpose.
Verdict
Though Honda RS 125 doesn’t carry much under its thin body and it also does not offer you much in terms of facilities, but then this ride is made to a price which comes under the affordable range of commuters. If you are buying this moped, then probably you are into the frequent runs across the city and saves a lot from your fuel consumption.
