MotorStar MSX 125M

From the looks of it, the Motorstar MSX 125M looks quite funky and quirky for a bike of this size, just like most of the mini motorcycles of this category. However, what adds a pinch of excitement to its design is the sharp and modern bits, which surely make it look quite attractive.

At the front, the Motorstar MSX 125M gets a sharp and angular looking front headlamp, which has angular edges at its upper and lower corners, thus giving it an aggressive front fascia. The headlamp, which is surrounded here by a broad and equally angular cowl with zig-zag shaped extensions on its corners, gets a broad black colored visor above it and a pair of wide LED turn indicators on its either sides. The high mounted front fender, positioned just below the headlamp, makes it looks quite sporty and thrilling. 

The side profile of the Motorstar MSX 125M looks quite busy and aggressive with sharply designed body panels and off-road stance, which surely give it an outright character. The fuel tank here is large and manages to make the Motorstar MSX 125M look bulky despite its mini size. The fuel tank here gets sharp extensions which are akin to a motocross motorcycle. The Motorstar MSX 125M also gets a heightened stance, thanks to a tall ground clearance for a bike of this size and partially exposed frame and engine in all its glory. The small 12-inch wheels shod with meaty looking tires further accentuate its fun character even more.

While moving towards the rear, the Motorstar MSX 125M gets broad panels under the seat, the right one of which partially hides the side-mounted under-seat exhaust, just like in any other dirt bike. The tail lamp assembly of the motorcycle too looks quite wide with a large tail lamp flaked with LED turn indicators, and a unique tubular grab rail above it and a proper functional fender below it. The instrument console of the Motorstar MSX 125M is a tiny but decent unit, which displays basic data including speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer.

The Motorstar MSX 125M gets its excellent maneuverability with its compact dimensions coupled to a stiffly sprung suspension setup of inverted hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock with rectangular swingarm at the back. The motorcycle rides on compact 12-inch wheels with fat tires at both the ends, with excellent petal disc brakes at both the ends. It is clear that Motorstar has not compromised on the front of mechanical bits when it comes to the MSX 125M.

The Motorstar MSX 125M gets a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled 123.7cc engine coupled to a 4-speed gearbox, which makes a maximum power output of 7.9 PS and a peak torque output of 8.5 Nm. For a motorcycle which weighs just 99 kgs, the power to weight ratio of the Motorstar MSX 125M is quite acceptable for quick performance figures, which are quite essential for a motorcycle of this size and character. The fuel tank, with its capacity of 10 litres, too is quite practical for urban ride-ability.

The Motorstar MSX 125M doesn’t get any particular noteworthy safety feature, let alone a proper ABS.

The Motorstar MSX 125M is a little fun to ride machine which is high on character, only let down somehow by a relatively less famed background of its Chinese maker in the market and reliability of the after-sales support. However, there are very machines specced similarly to it, which makes it quite a unique proposition in the two-wheeler market of the Philippines.
