MotorStar Star-X155

The MotorStar Star-X155 certainly looks very different from anything else in the segment. It comes with a triple headlight setup that makes it instantly recognizable. The indicators themselves are tiny by comparison and mounted on stalks underneath them. This massive front setup is displayed in all its glory thanks to the chrome plating. All three massive headlights, the front, and rear fender instrument pods, silencer along with the crash guards and the rear luggage rack are also coated in shiny chrome. There is a large tapered fuel tank followed by a long and flat seat that takes a slightly curved upwards shape. There is a big and padded backrest behind the seat with a luggage rack behind it that is connected to the chassis through a long bracing. This also incorporates a large footrest for pillion riders. The tail section is provided with its own paneling and the taillight is integrated into it. There are reflectors mounted next to it that look as if they are jutting out like rocket engines. The indicators themselves are mounted beneath it on stalks. There is a lot of bracing and protection on this bike and this can be used to mount a sidecar. The twin-pod instrumentation is basic and analog. The dimensions are 2010 mm (L) x 740 mm (W) x 1050 mm (H). There are 17” spoked wheels with 3.0 tires front and rear. There are three colors on offer – red, blue and black.

The MotorStar-X155 comes with telescopic front forks and a quad shock absorber setup for the rear. This gives it a very capable setup that allows it a carrying capacity of 180 kg. The bike weighs 106 kg itself is very stable with its 1290 mm wheelbase. The handlebars are high and the seat height allows a relaxed seating position. The seat could be a little softer for better comfort.

The engine powering the MotorStar Star-X155 is a 155cc air-cooled and carbureted single cylinder unit. Power and torque figures have not been revealed by the company but the engine has sufficient power to take it to a top speed of 90 kmph. The engine is mated to a 4-speed transmission. The gearing, however, is low and a change of sprockets may be in order for prospective buyers. The bike comes with a large fuel tank and provides decent fuel economy. MotorStar has provided it with an electric starter in addition to its kick starter.

The bike comes with drum brakes both front and rear. This setup is sufficient and allows the bike to keep its price low.

For its price, the MotorStar Star-X155 delivers a lot of motorcycle. It is provided with everything that a business owner would expect on their bike. The frame has been strengthened and provided with enough power to do its job. There is nothing fancy on it to raise its price unnecessarily and even parts availability has improved by a lot over the years. But is it enough to match the reliability that comes from a Japanese motorcycle manufacturer? A low price might not be as appealing when the product cannot be used reliably.
