MotorStar Star-X 125S

The lower end of the commuter motorcycles usually don’t focus much on the aspect of visual appeal, and the Motorstar Star X 125S, being one of the cheapest motorcycles in the country, seems no different. One does get a very basic looking package in the Motorstar Star X 125S when it comes to styling, and it by no means can be termed as attractive.

At the front, the Motorstar Star X 125S gets a very simple looking round headlamp assisted with rounded amber-coloured turn indicators mounted on triangular chrome finished plates on either sides of the headlamp. To add some kind of different element, the headlamp here gets a slightly rounded cowl at the top of it. A very long chrome-finished front fender with a dedicated rubber mudguard at its bottom completes the look of the motorcycle at the front.

The Motorstar Star X 125S, when viewed from the sides, continues to get a very basic appeal, with a horizontally elongated fuel tank complete with body decals and a tapered look, thus making the motorcycle look quite long. The bike also gets proper functional side body cowls shaped in a block manner, which too get body decals to make sure the Motorstar Star X 125S doesn’t look too basic. A big and almost flat long seat, spoke wheels and non-existent rear side body panels make sure that you are looking at a basic commuter.

At the back, the Motorstar Star X 125S gets a functional and long chrome-finished tubular grab rail, which can be also used as a platform for carrying small loads. The wide tail lamp, accompanied with rounded amber-coloured turn indicators, complete the look of the Star X 125S at the rear. Here too, the rear chrome finished fender gets an unusually big mudguard.

The instrument console of the Motorstar Star X 125S matches the rest of the basic appeal of the motorcycle, with the unit getting basic data on display including speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer. The riding posture of the Motorstar Star X 125S is quite upright with a curved handlebar, with the bike getting too basic switchgear and rearview mirrors. The overall build quality and fit and finish levels of the motorcycle is also something which cannot be praised much about.

The Motorstar Star X 125S is quite a basic motorcycle when it comes to mechanicals under the skin, with the motorcycle getting 17-inch spoke wheels at both the ends, basic hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and hydraulic coil springs at the rear. The 2.75x17” front tire and 3.00x17” rear tire are too skinny to offer comfort and stability at higher speeds and lack a good grip and feedback.

The Motorstar Star X 125S is bestowed with a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, carbureted, 123.7cc engine, which here is married to a 4-speed gearbox. The engine, which offers decent levels of refinement and lower-end torque, produces a maximum power output of 7.8 PS and a peak torque output of 8.5 Nm. For a motorcycle which weighs just 97 kg, the Motorstar Star X 125S feels easy to ride with a good amount of grunt down the rev range.

The Motorstar Star X 125S has not been equipped with a single noteworthy safety feature, which given its overall appeal and price range and category, is mildly acceptable too.

For those who seek a basic appeal and don’t expect much from a set of two-wheeler, the Motorstar Star X 125S does a decent job. The motorcycle feels not so desirable whatever aspect of it you take and feels like an ‘okay’ product for its price range.
