The Zest X110-IIM as the name suggests has been in the market for quite some time. MotorStar brings up the lower end of the price spectrum and has quite a few mopeds in their catalog. Going for price superiority should come with obvious advantages in a saturated market, but being a Chinese derived brand, this works against the company. And a bike that has shown some serious potential for people who need nothing more than a bike that just works. The Zest comes with just the right amount of style and performance for its price and has earned a decent amount of popularity because of it. At Php 40000, it is one of the cheapest underbones in the market today. As a testament to the saturation of our underbone market, even at this price range it has to face off competition from the likes of the Kymco Visar and the giant of the underbones, Honda Wave 110 Alpha that is around Php 5000 more expensive than the Zest. Here is a look at what you can expect from the Zest X110-IIM.
MotorStar has a very comprehensive lineup of underbone designs and engine layouts in its catalog. In this, the Zest X110-IIM takes a more conventional, that is to say, Honda Wave clone style with a scooter like a headlight pod and a full sized apron. Despite the ubiquity of the design, the Zest stands out with from the front with a sleek and modern appearance. The pointy headlight and the fairing mounted angular indicators on top of recesses in the apron give it just a hint of aggression and character. This is somewhat ruined by the front mudguard that is simply too long. The apron is also quite slim and not the most protective as a result. As we move back, we are faced with a high spine followed by a slim seat. The tail light uses an integrated setup with the indicators to give it modern look. The exhaust end can, however, carries a chrome plated look that seems out of place. The 17” alloy wheels with 5 spokes in Y design do bring back some oomph. These are wrapped with 2.5 front and 2.75 rear tires. There is basic analog instrumentation as you would expect and the color choices are limited to red, blue and black. Still, at this price point, this bike is more than just decent looking. Many buyers customize them to their heart's content and we can certainly see why. The bike has compact dimensions with a length of 1975 mm, width of 700 mm and height of 1095 mm.
The MotorStart Zest X110-IIM comes with conventional telescopic front forks and dual shock absorbers for the rear. The seating geometry is well suited for urban commuting. The handlebars are high and allow the rider to take an upright seating position. The 1235 mm wheelbase also aids in providing the bike with agile handling.
Powering the MotorStar Zest X110-IIM is a 106cc air-cooled and carbureted engine. Official power and torque figures are hard to find but we can estimate them to be around 7 hp and 7 Nm of torque. The power is enough for the lightweight 95 kg fame of the bike and enough to propel it to speeds of over 95 kmph. The company provides it with both an electric and a kick starter. Maximum load capacity is rated at 150 kg.
MotorStar Zest X110-IIM comes equipped with a disc brake for the front and a drum brake for the rear. This a good move from the company as finding disc brakes at this price range is a rarity even in today’s day and age.
This is the slightly higher spec of the even cheaper Zest X110-IIM that comes with spoke wheels. As such anyone who doesn’t care for alloy wheels can save Php 2000 extra and go for the MotorStar Zest X100-II. Both the bikes are a decent commuter if you can shake off the Chinese image. Reliability issues are also reported to be minimum as long as buyers keep their bikes stock.
I have heard a lot about this brand but did not have much idea about this. I got to know more about this as my friend bought Motorstar zest-x110-iiim. After a vivid discussion with him about the machine I got to know he is simply in a win-win situation by opting for this device. The bike is a perfect amalgamation
When I cleared my driving licence test last summer’s my elder brother took me to the bike store to pick my very own bike. I chose to go with the blue appealing MotoStar Zest X110-II M which stood in the corner exuding pride. This choice has proved to be the best decision I have ever made. Whenever on road it
