Suzuki GSX-8T

In terms of dimensions, the Suzuki GSX-8T measures 2,115 mm in length, 775 mm in width, 1,105 mm in overall height, and 815 mm in seat height. It has a 1,465 mm wheelbase and a 145 mm ground clearance.

The Suzuki GSX-8T has a stylish retro roadster appeal that looks macho yet refined at the same time. At night, it has a classic-looking glare courtesy of its flat-bottom mono-round LED headlight. And to further enhance its vintage front end, it comes with round handlebar end mirrors, which give the rider a wide view of the road.  

Furthermore, blacked-out engine side covers, heat guards, and 17-inch wheels accentuate its sporty, naked bike silhouette. It also comes with a stainless steel muffler cover, which adds more depth to its side profile. At the rear, it features a clean LED taillight, giving its overall appearance more modernity.

This neo-retro roadster has a 5-inch color TFT instrument display and a fast-charging USB Type-C socket for your gadget. Its tuck-and-roll seat is plush and provides both the rider and pillion with impeccable comfort and ergonomics even on longer rides out of town. However, one of this bike’s downsides is its pretty high seat height, which some Filipino riders might find a bit of an inconvenience. 

In terms of suspension, the Suzuki GSX-8T utilizes a combination of an Inverted Telescopic Fork with a Coil Spring at the front, while a Link Type with Coil Spring at the rear. Its whole suspension setup is oil damped. Thanks to this setup and the bike’s plush tuck-and-roll seat, you and your pillion will be able to experience impressive touring comfort both on short and long-distance rides. Additionally, the GSX-8T is also pretty nimble to maneuver even when filtering through tight traffic at low speeds. It can also effectively absorb light to moderate bumps and uneven concrete pavements.  

Similar to its double T counterpart (GSX-8TT), the Suzuki GSX-8T is also powered by a 776-cc, 4-stroke, 2-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that produces a maximum power output of 81 hp and a maximum torque of 77 Nm. This neo-retro roadster runs on a 6-speed constant mesh (manual) transmission gearbox.

This neo-retro bike is a joy to drive both in the city and on the highway thanks to its Clutch Assist System and Low RPM Assist. It runs quickly and delivers smooth power delivery out on the open road. And, on top of this, it offers decent fuel economy even when filtering through tight city traffic at low speeds courtesy of its fuel injection system. Overall, the GSX-8T is a feasible daily city transportation and a very enjoyable weekend cruiser for your occasional out-of-town trips.

In terms of safety, the Suzuki GSX-8T is equipped with the brand’s state-of-the-art electronic rider aids such as a traction control system, a bi-directional quick shift system, and multiple riding modes. Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system. It utilizes twin discs for front braking, while a single disc for the rear.

In my opinion, the Suzuki GSX-8T justifies its price by effectively combining a pleasing vintage aesthetic with modern performance, cutting-edge technology, and advanced safety features that cater to the evolving needs of riders nationwide.
