Suzuki RM Z450

The Suzuki RM-Z450, as said above, has been designed keeping the off-road riding enthusiasts in the core focus. So naturally, it looks the part, for the motorcycle looks like a proper off-roader and mean by its presence.

Starting off from the front, the Suzuki RM-Z450 has a bare-bones approach, considering the fact that the motorcycle is not legal for the street usage. The conventional mounting of the headlamp here is replaced by a sheet of plastic which forms the front fascia. With tapered edges, it doesn’t look too plain and gives some character to the motorcycle’s look.

The front fender of the Suzuki RM-Z450 looks aggressive too, with its styling inspired by that of the beak of a bird. The front forks are too finished in a quite unique shade of bronze. And at the lower end of the forks, they do get black colored full fork protectors.

The side profile of the Suzuki RM-Z450 looks quite busy, as the V-shaped fuel tank extensions manage to give it an edgy look. These fuel tank extensions themselves get a Y-shaped cowl ahead of them, taking the aggression of the motorcycle one notch above. The slim single-piece seat of the Suzuki RM-Z450 blends seamlessly with the tiny fuel tank in the same line of layout.

The Suzuki RM-Z450 is bestowed with a side-mounted under-seat exhaust pipe, which does get a thick plastic shield to keep it covered and give it a slightly beefy appeal when viewed from the sides. The long tail fender behind the seat does give it a sharp-edged character. Given that it is a pure motocross machine, the Suzuki RM-Z450 also skips out on a proper tail lamp assembly as well as a functional instrument console, in order to resort to the philosophy of minimalism.

The Suzuki RM-Z450 is pitched as a proper fully functional motocross motorcycle designed to tackle the worst of all the roads. This is the reason why one can find top-notch hardware present in this motorcycle.

The Suzuki RM-Z450 is equipped with a very sturdy suspension setup of inverted hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and link-type monoshock with aluminium swingarm at the rear. The presence of off-road spec tires on 21-inch front wheel and 19-inch rear wheel further enhance its off-road durability even more. The motorcycle has been fitted with single petal disc brakes at both the ends.

Powering the Suzuki RM-Z450 is a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 449cc engine, which is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. One of the largest single-cylinder engines when it comes to motocross machines, the engine is good on performance levels. While Suzuki has not officially unveiled its performance outputs, the engine is believed to produce near bout 50 PS of maximum power, while the peak torque output is believed to hover around in the range of 44 Nm.

From the aspect of safety, the Suzuki RM-Z450 has been equipped not only with dual-channel ABS as standard but also a couple of more sophisticated safety add-ons as well. First is an evolved traction management system and then there is a holeshot assist control, which facilitates launch control, thus enhancing the overall control of the motorcycle even in tough situations.

The Suzuki RM-Z450 is rightfully targeted as an out and out motocross machine, which has been specifically engineered to keep one’s tip on the thrills with good control over the machine. The motorcycle is slightly on a heavier side when compared to the competition. However, the capable chassis and good set of electronic riding aids make things quite easy for the Suzuki RM-Z450.
