Suzuki RM-Z250 Design
The dirt bikes are built keeping in mind pure performance and riding dynamics in mind. With the aspect of styling being given a lower priority. The RM-Z250 too follows this same approach, however, Suzuki has tried to make it look trendy and modern in front of other rivals of its class.
The front of the Suzuki RM-Z250 has a flat design with a plastic cowl in place of a conventional headlamp and the long beaky front fender just attached to its lower part. The golden touch to the front telescopic forks is a nice and premium looking touch. Apart from the headlamp, the RM-Z250 also misses out on the turn indicators and rear view mirrors, in order to keep the weight in check.
Suzuki has tried to make the side profile of the RM-Z250 snazzy by imparting trendy body graphics on the high placed fuel tank, which is very small in size. This allows Suzuki to exhibit its aluminium frame in all of its glory, thus making the RM-Z250 look very sporty and built-to-purpose. The RM-Z250 does get almost flat tank extension, which somehow adds to the visual mass of the side profile.
At the rear, the RM-Z250 has been equipped with a long and horizontal tubular grab rail behind the seat, which also serves as the rear fender as well. The under seat exhaust pipe gets a body-colored plastic shield. The spoke rims, as well as off-road spec tyres, look ready to hit the off-road track with their focused design.
The Suzuki RM-Z250 also misses out on a proper instrument console, and at the same time, the switchgear too has a very minimalist design with just the basics at their places.
RM-Z250 Ride & Handling
To make the chassis of the RM-Z250 perfectly suited to its character, Suzuki has blessed the motorcycle with light weighted components which are, at the same time, very reliable and sturdy as well. At the front, the Suzuki RM-Z250 gets simple hydraulic telescopic forks, while a linked monoshock does duty at the rear.
The off-road tyres complement the light weighted chassis and stiff suspension setup, thus making the RM-Z250 an amazing machine to handle on rough surfaces. For a good stopping power, Suzuki has put petal disc brakes for the job on both the ends. The tall seat height of 955 mm might be a bit of trouble for shorter riders.
Suzuki RM-Z250 Engine & Fuel Consumption
To complement the light weighted character of the RM-Z250, Suzuki has employed a four-stroke, single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected 249 cc motor on the motorcycle. The engine, mated to a 5-speed gearbox, has the ability to squeeze out impressive power and torque figures.
Suzuki has chosen to keep the power and torque figures under wrap, however, they are nearby close to that of the Suzuki Inazuma, as the engine has been shared with the latter. However, considering the peaky attribute of the engine, it has been tweaked to give better performance at higher revs.
RM-Z250 Braking & Safety
The bare-bones appeal of the Suzuki RM-Z250 is most evident when it comes to the list of features, which includes that of the safety as well. The motorcycle misses out on even the ABS, however, the disc brakes try their best to put the rider on toes.
Suzuki RM-Z250 Verdict
The Suzuki RM-Z250 is purely for those amateur riders who want to push their limits when it comes to off-road performance, but are tight on their budget. The light weighted character of the chassis is well matched by the nimble performance from the quarter-litre engine, making the RM-Z250 a fun to ride machine. However, considering the fact that it misses out on many basic components and features, it is purely meant to be ridden in closed territories, and not on open streets.
