UM Renegade Sport S

For starters, the UM Renegade Sport S model line measures 2,227 mm in length, 860 mm in width, 1,100 mm in overall height, and 750 mm in seat height. This modern-classic cruiser also comes with a 1,545-mm wheelbase.

Appearance-wise, the UM Renegade Sport S looks macho and sporty at the same time. At the front, it features a sloped-back cowling that houses the cruiser’s classic-looking round LED headlamp, which is flanked by a pair of round signal lights. It gets conventional-looking mirrors finished in black and a small two-tone fender underneath.

From the side, it features a classy multi-tone profile, accentuated by blacked-out features, alloy wheels (front: 17-inch, rear: 15-inch) with body-coloured rims, and an engine cover finished in a bronze-like shade. Its two-tone fuel tank, which is flanked by LED light strips on both sides, gives it a distinctive appearance, especially at night. This cruiser is also fitted with a black single exhaust pipe for a sporty touch. Meanwhile, at the rear, it comes with a geometric LED tail light and another pair of round signal lights.

Up front, the rider’s instrument panel consists of a large analogue speedometer and a small LCD odometer underneath. This cruiser also comes with a USB charging port for your mobile phone. 

In terms of comfort, its dual-stepped seat is well-cushioned and approachable for the average Filipino rider, making low-speed filters and extended rides more convenient and manageable for both you and your passenger. Overall, the Renegade Sport S’ design offers a decent mix of comfort, modern functionality, and style, which is impressive for its price point.

In terms of suspension, the UM Renegade Sport S model line comes with a hydraulic combination of a Telescopic Fork at the front and Dual Shocks at the rear. This suspension setup offers just the right balance of softness and firmness on the road. It effectively soaks up bumps and other minor road imperfections around the city while remaining stable and decently-composed through turns and corners. Overall the Renegade Sport S can offer a satisfying riding experience for both you and your passenger.

The UM Renegade Sport S offers three displacement options for its single-cylinder, four-stroke, four-valve, OHC engine: 150cc, 197cc (200), and 279.5cc (300), producing a maximum power output ranging from 17.5 to 24.8 hp and a maximum torque output ranging from 15 to 23 Nm. The Renegade Sport S model line comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox.

While it may not be the most powerful cruiser in the local market, the Renegade Sport S still delivers ample power and torque for quick overtakes and steep inclines. However, vibrations become more noticeable at higher speeds, which can affect comfort during extended rides. 

On the bright side, its predictable power delivery makes it easy to manage in urban traffic, while its manual transmission gearbox helps keep the engine composed during longer rides. Ultimately, the Renegade Sport S’ engine offers a balanced combination of performance and usability for daily commutes and weekend cruises.

In terms of safety, the UM Renegade Sport S model line is equipped with multiple reflectors, a pass switch, a low fuel indicator, and the brand’s Anti-Flat Sealant (AFS) feature, among others. This cruiser comes with a single disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

In my opinion, the UM Renegade Sport S would be an excellent first cruiser-type motorcycle for young riders and budget-conscious consumers alike. It is affordable, rider-friendly, and decently-equipped with modern features. On top of that, it balances both riding enjoyment and everyday usability.
