UM DSR II Design
The UM DSR II is a motorcycle that looks purposeful from every angle. It might not be the most good-looking motorcycle out there, but one glance at it is enough to tell you that it is a proper dual-purpose motorcycle designed to attract younger riders.
At the front, the UM DSR II gets a petite headlamp, which is a halogen unit and is accompanied by a small tinted visor above it. The headlamp has a slanted frontal part, which tapers down towards the high-mounted front fender. The fender here is large for a motorcycle of this size, and its aggressive design further makes the motorcycle look sporty when viewed head-on.
The side profile of the UM DSR II looks just like any other conventional dual-purpose motorcycle – a slim and tall profile, high ground clearance, and minimalist bodywork. The fuel tank looks big for a dual-purpose motorcycle, and the heavy amount of bodywork around it adds to the visual bulk of the UM DSR II.
At the back, the UM DSR II has a compact tailpiece, which includes a small tapered triangular LED tail lamp and a large-sized rear fender. Above the tail lamp, you do get a fairly-sized top box mount, which makes the motorcycle look even more purposeful. The instrument console of the UM DSR II also looks cool, though not thoroughly modern, with its combination of a small rounded pod for the analog tachometer and an orange-backlit LCD panel for the speedometer, odometer, trip meters, trip computer, fuel gauge, and gear indicator.
DSR II Ride & Handling
The UM DSR II is equipped with a sturdy suspension setup, which is fairly conventional having a combination of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable mono-shock with a rectangular swing-arm at the back. The motorcycle rides on a 19-inch front wheel with a 90/90-19 off-road tire and a 17-inch rear wheel with a 110/90-19 off-road tire. The sturdy suspension and spoke wheels with off-road tires make the UM DSR II a good recipe to tackle bad roads. For braking, the UM DSR II is equipped with a single disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
UM DSR II Engine & Fuel Consumption
The UM DSR II is powered by a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 198.8cc engine. While this engine might seem to be a powerful heart for the UM DSR II, it, unfortunately, doesn’t match the expectations. Paired to a 5-speed gearbox, this engine puts up a maximum power output of 14.89 bhp, while the peak torque output is rated at 15.58 Nm. The engine feels decent for lower city speeds but feels out of breath as soon as the speeds increase.
DSR II Braking & Safety
The UM DSR II is a decently priced motorcycle, and to keep the costs under control, it skips out on crucial safety features like ABS and a lockable ignition keyhole.
UM DSR II Verdict
For its price, the UM DSR II is a decent motorcycle with a couple of minor niggles to its basics, like the lower power delivery and below-average fit and finish levels. Though, it impresses with the way it rides at slower speeds and the sturdiness of its suspension setup. is large for a motorcycle of this size, and its aggressive design further makes the motorcycle look sporty when viewed head-on.
