Yamaha Lexi

In terms of dimensions, the Yamaha Lexi measures 1,970 mm in length, 720 mm in width, 1,135 mm in overall height, and 770 mm in seat height. This maxi-scooter also comes with a wheelbase of 1,350 mm and a minimum ground clearance of 135 mm. 

The Yamaha Lexi’s design looks assertive and approachable at the same time. It flaunts an athletic front end illuminated by a confident-looking LED headlight. It also comes with angular signal lights, which resemble a bee’s compound eyes.

Moreover, its side profile is defined by a combination of blacked-out features and bright-coloured branding decals. Its exhaust with a matte black heat guard adds more sportiness to its overall appearance on the road. This maxi-scooter runs on 14-inch wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres. Aside from that, it features a modern-looking rear, accentuated by a bright LED tail light with another pair of signal lights.

This maxi-scooter comes with an inverted full LCD meter panel that displays all the important information the rider needs to take note of when on the road. You can also link your smartphone to your Lexi using the Y-Connect app. Its dual straight seat might not be the plushest in its segment, but it still offers decent cushioning and ergonomics for you and your pillion. On the plus side, this maxi-scooter is equipped with a wide footboard, making stop-and-go traffic more tolerable for the rider. 

In terms of practicality and convenience, this maxi-scooter comes with an under-seat storage, which can accommodate a small half-face helmet and other handheld belongings, along with a USB power socket for your phone. Overall, the Lexi’s design offers a good mix of practicality, functionality, and aesthetics for its asking price.

In terms of suspension, the Yamaha Lexi comes with a Telescopic Fork at the front and a Unit Swing at the rear. This maxi-scooter is light and very nimble to maneuver, even through tight traffic and narrow streets. It also handles sharp turns or corners quite well. Aside from that, it also offers decent absorption of light to medium-sized bumps and other minor road imperfections. All in all, this maxi-scooter can deliver a supple and very pleasant riding experience for both the rider and the pillion, even on longer trips.

The Yamaha Lexi is powered by a 155-cc, 4-valve, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC Blue Core engine (with Variable Valve Actuation) that produces a maximum power output of 11.3 kW (15.4 PS) and a maximum torque of 14.2 Nm. This maxi-scooter comes mated to a V-belt automatic transmission gearbox.

That said, the Lexi boasts an impressive performance on the road. Its engine delivers a lively punch off the line, allowing you to overtake slower vehicles effectively. It also feels very smooth and responsive. However, its range tends to drop when you cruise at higher RPMs. On the plus side, it comes with Yamaha’s Stop and Start System for better efficiency (even in mixed conditions) and reduced engine heat. With this in mind, this maxi-scooter is capable of making every trip more enjoyable and time-efficient.

In terms of safety, the Yamaha Lexi is equipped with a pass switch, an engine check warning, and side reflectors. This maxi-scooter utilizes a hydraulic single disc for front braking and a mechanical leading trailing drum for the rear.

In my opinion, the Yamaha Lexi has a great potential to become a competitive force in its segment moving forward. It offers impressive 155cc performance while undercutting many of its competitors (within the same displacement range) in terms of price.
