Here are 3 reasons to get the Denza B8

Not too long ago, Denza Philippines rolled out the B8, an upmarket hybrid sport utility vehicle that could go places most vehicles couldn’t. 

Aside from having the capability to power all four wheels, it comes with a suite of modern amenities that could keep its occupants comfortable, even when braving the great outdoors. 

On that note, here are three things one could look forward to, should they eye to drive home the Denza B8.

Hybrid off-roader 

As briefly covered above, the Denza B8 uses a hybrid powertrain — specifically a 2.0-liter internal combustion engine paired with two electric motors on each wheel axle. 

In unison, the setup generates 603 horsepower (hp) and 760 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. Broken down, here are the power figures produced by each of the permanent magnet synchronous motors:

The above numbers are more than capable of overcoming almost any obstacle and conquering almost any terrain. In fact, the Denza B8 was tested by select members of the motoring media on a makeshift course designed to put the SUV through its paces, where it performed admirably. 

Having said that, the large new-energy model is not only adept at moving slowly in a challenging landscape, but is also proficient in zooming from a standstill to holy heck. Acceleration time from zero to 100 kilometers per hour is achieved in just 4.8 seconds. 

Of course, we can’t talk about hybrid cars without discussing range, in which it can drive up to 115 kilometers — despite its heavy and beefy frame — in full electric vehicle mode. 

Tech-heavy SUV 

Since Denza is a sub-brand of BYD, it is only proper to expect its flagship electrified off-roader to come with plenty of onboard technologies. 

Leaning towards comfort and convenience, the cabin of the Denza B8 is equipped with Nappa leather seats, which have power-adjust and massage functions. 

The driver is treated not only to a leather-upholstered, multi-functional steering wheel, but also to a host of screens, such as a 12.3-inch embedded full LCD instrument cluster, a head-up display, and a 17.3-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

For juicing up smartphones, the Denza B8 packs two wireless charging docks on the center console, which have dedicated vents to prevent the devices from overheating. 

Speaking of overheating, passengers are kept cool thanks to an automatic climate control system with three temperature zones and a negative-ion air purifier. Meanwhile, a refrigerator — can double as a warmer — can keep food and beverages in optimal temperatures for later. 

Lastly, it gets captain’s chairs to ensure the comfort of those occupying the second row. 

Looks that mirror its capabilities 

All that power and technology should be packaged accordingly, right? Good thing the Denza B8 was designed with looks that mirror its capabilities. 

Its front end is fitted with a wide grille flanked by LED illumination with automatic features. The lower front bumper is also beefy, sort of telegraphing its robust and dependable character. 

The side profile of the Denza B8 gets boxy side mirrors, soft-close doors with flush handles, durable-looking wheel arches, claddings on the lower portion of the doors, and blacked-out pillars.

At the back is a side-opening door with a door-mounted spare tire with a cover. The same boxy theme can be observed on its taillamps and lower rear bumper.
