Here are the EVs we want to see in PH this 2025

Electric vehicles (EV) have undoubtedly made their way here in the Philippines with various models consistently seen plying local roads, with more of them to come in the following years.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are some EVs sold in our neighboring countries but not yet available in the Philippines?

Some of the EVs we want to see here in the Philippines are the Volkswagen ID. Buzz, BYD M6, and Toyota bZ4X.
  • From what countries are these models sold?

The models in this list are available in Indonesia and Thailand.
  • Thanks to the government incentivizing early adopters and private companies striving to grow the country’s EV charging network, many Filipinos became more open to driving battery-propelled automobiles.

With the growing interest surrounding electric cars, we take a quick look at some of the EVs we want to see here in the Philippines this 2025.

    Volkswagen ID. Buzz

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is an all-electric minivan currently available in European regions, as well as in our neighbor market — Indonesia. There, it is powered by an electric motor paired with a 79-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery that gives it decent performance capabilities.

Per the company’s website, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz can do the following:

    • Zero to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 7.9 seconds
    • Estimated range of 430 kilometers (km) in a single charge
    • Top speed of 160 kph
    • Maximum torque of 550 Newton-meters (Nm)

The retro-futuristic model is also impressive with plenty of digital amenities available for tech-savvy car buyers to tinker with. These include the following:

    • 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster
    • 10-inch infotainment system
    • Multi-functional steering wheel
    • Creative ambient lighting

    BYD M6

Also sold in Indonesia, the BYD M6 is an intelligent and sleek-looking multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that could make waves here in the country.

Below are the power figures of the seven-seater

BYD Cars Philippines has built a solid portfolio here in the country and adding the M6 could reinforce its presence in the market. The Ayala-led marque is yet to release an MPV and the said model comes in as a strong candidate.

    Zeekr 09

The Zeekr 09 hails from the joint venture between Geely and Volvo and offers Thai EV adopters a luxurious ride.

According to the company’s website, it is powered by two electric motors allowing it to dish out some 603 hp. Despite the large body, the Zeekr 09 boasts an impressive range of 686 km — more than enough for both planned getaways and spontaneous weekend trips.

No matter where the road takes the 09 from Zeekr, its occupants will remain comfortable thanks to a suite of opulent interior appointments like first-class seats swathed with Nappa leather, an 8.6-liter refrigerator, and hidden tables.

    Toyota bZ4X

Toyota has released the bZ4X in Thailand, allowing car buyers in the country to enjoy the Japanese carmaker’s full-electric offering.

It is offered in Thailand with an AC synchronous electric generator that produces a maximum output of 214 hp with 337 Nm of pulling power.

The driver is fed information about the electric drive system using its seven-inch digital instrument cluster while a 12.3-inch infotainment display allows for seamless integration of most smartphone apps via Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Here in the Philippines, Toyota has only released hybrids in the form of the Corolla Cross, Yaris Cross, and Zenix

    GWM Ora 07

In Thailand, Great Wall Motors has a larger version of the Ora, the Ora 07.

The four-door mid-size sedan flaunts the same stylish design language as its small sibling but packs more “oomph.”

Creature comfort features are listed below:

    • 10.12-inch digital instrument cluster
    • 12.3-inch infotainment display
    • Apple Carplay, Android Auto connectivity
    • Head-up display on windshield
    • Automatic air conditioning system with PM 2.5 filter
    • Wireless phone charger

    Aion V

GAC Group-owned Aion offers the V model in Indonesia.

The compact crossover uses an electric motor that can put out 201 hp with 240 Nm. Its 75.3 kWh battery is capable of driving more than 600 km on a single charge.

In the Philippines, Aion is only offering the Y and ES, and we believe that the V could attract a good amount of customers given its solid range.
