Small yet spacious: The Suzuki Celerio CVT

A hatchback can be a stylish,  realistic choice for first-time car buyers — attractive because of its maneuverable, compact size that can easily negotiate narrow streets and spaces, and a (usual) affordable price tag to fit tight budgets. Currently, Suzuki offers three hatchback models in the local market and the longest-running badge is the Suzuki Celerio.

The Suzuki Celerio comes in two variants. Both trims are powered by a K10B 1.0-liter petrol engine. The engine features a lightweight design which results in easier handling and greater road performance. The only difference between the two Celerio variants is the transmission. The top trim’s engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission, while the base uses a five-speed manual transmission.

The Celerio exhibits a dynamic exterior design that crafted to provide excellent aerodynamics. The hatchback’s exterior is made stylish by its wide range of classic body colors.

The cockpit of the Suzuki Celerio features a minimalist style, which was purposely designed for better legibility. The Celerio is equipped with a seven-inch multimedia touchscreen display with navigation system. Under the infotainment monitor are the air-conditioning controls.

Most people expect a hatchback to provide a cramped space, The case is different for the Suzuki Celerio since it ample interior space with generous legroom. It also features a split-folding rear seat that gives the luggage space a capacity of up to 254 liters. This was considered as a “best-in-class” luggage capacity in a 2014 Suzuki internal research.

The Celerio is structured with the Suzuki Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) concept that uses high-tensile steel to provide a light yet durable body. The concept targets to provide protection in the unfortunate event of a collision. The Suzuki Celerio is also equipped with front airbags to minimize the crash impact. Other road safety features include an anti-lock brake system (ABS), a reverse sensor, childproof door locks, side impact beams, and remote control door locks. The Celerio is installed with an immobilizer for its anti-theft system.
