2019 Jeep Gladiator is all set to step on the podium
MANILA: A conceptual model of the pickup truck Gladiator was shown in 2005. After that, a lot of leaks happened, and now in 2018, we will eventually see the Jeep Gladiator in its final form. The American manufacturer will be premiering the all-new pickup at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. With the show still a fortnight far, some press photographs of the 2019 Jeep Gladiator have already been leaked.
After the Wrangler, the Gladiator will be a pickup coming from the American barn after a very, very long time. On the outside, the Gladiator is reminiscent to the Wrangler. All the way from the hood until the doors, it resembles the Wrangler. And the similarities with the Wrangler end right there. The side and the rear of the Gladiator are unique. It features a vertical 7-slat grille, circular headlamps, and the iconic Jeep look.
At the rear, there’s a Jeep logo right at the centre of the tailgate. The taillights have also been redesigned and have no similarities with the Wrangler. The Gladiator has got a longer wheelbase compared to the Wrangler Unlimited, but it gets similar wheel arch flares. The tailgate handle finished in black is placed right above the Jeep logo.
For enhancing the suspension articulation, the 2019 Gladiator features Dana 44 axles with disconnecting sway bars. The Gladiator packs in similar engines as the Wrangler. It is the house of a 3.0-litre turbodiesel or a 3.6-litre V6 gasoline motor. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic. The gas engine can pull a load of 725 kg whereas the diesel motor is capable of towing 1000 kg. The Gladiator can run through waters up to 30-inches deep without a fuss.
