9th PIMS: Changan Hunter REEV set for PH reveal this week

MANILA: Changan Auto Philippines (CAP) is set to reveal the Hunter REEV (range extended electric vehicle) — particularly at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show.

The aforementioned speculation was based on two separate posts from the Changan Auto PH and CAMPI Philippine International Motor Show Facebook pages — both showing a silhouette of a pick-up truck.

“Incredible Power, Extended. Come by and see the world’s first for yourself,” Changan Auto PH stated on its Facebook page.

What we know so far

To recall, the Changan Hunter REEV has been included in the Department of Energy (DOE)’s list of recognized plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in the country.

Exterior

Based on the documents from the energy department, the Changan Hunter REEV measures 5,630 millimeters (mm) long; 1,930 mm wide; and 1,885 mm tall with a 3,105-mm gross weight. The approved vehicle trim is the 4x4 Knights Version.

Its athletic look is complemented by its aggressive-looking fascia that houses rectangular LED head- and fog lamps.

While it has huge chunks of black claddings placed on the front bumper, wheel wells, and sports bar (as seen in reports locally), the model seems to have a lot for shiny portions such as the piano-black grille and chrome door handles.

Powertrain

The vehicle will likely be powered by an electric motor that gets juiced up via its gasoline engine or by a charging outlet (that offers GBT and Type 2 connectors).

Thanks to the said powertrain set-up (mated to a 31.18 kilowatt-hour ferrous lithium phosphate battery), the Changan Hunter REEV can do 77 kilometers per liter and can dish out a maximum of 268 horses and 470 Newton-meters of torque.  

Said to be the first REEV pick-up truck in the world, the Philippine-spec vehicle is might be retailed with three drive modes namely Economy, Comfort, and Sports.

Its stopping power comes from four disc brakes that have an anti-lock braking system and electronic brakeforce distribution.

Safety, security

The Changan Hunter REEV that is part of the DOE list is fitted with numerous safety, security, and driver assistive features such as the electronic stability program, lateral stability control (also known as anti-yaw control), brake assist, hill hold and hill descent control, emergency brake warning, trailer swing control, tire pressure monitoring.

CAP has yet to share the Changan Hunter REEV's full specifications as well as its pricing, but rest assured that Zigwheels Philippines will provide the said information once it becomes available.
