Tech-heavy lineups featuring BEV or EREV powertrains

KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is Avatr and Deepal’s relationship with Changan?
Changan, Avatr, and Deepal all fall under the umbrella of the Changan Automobile Group. What kind of powertrains do Deepal and Avatr cars use?
The global-spec versions of the Deepal and Avatr lineups are battery electric vehicles or range-extended electric vehicles. For now, this has yet to be officially confirmed by Changan’s local arm, but a recent engagement with the motoring media showed three silhouettes of upcoming cars. These resemble some vehicles from the Avatr and Deepal lineups, namely the Avatr 11 and 7 crossovers, as well as the Deepal L07 sedan.
Again, no final details for these two brands and their respective local-market lineups were showcased, but Changan Philippines Head of Sales Arlan Antonio Reyes Jr. already mentioned that the company is in the final stages of a local introduction. As such, Zigwheels Philippines has already included these two brands in our list of vehicles we’re excited to see in 2026.

Upcoming brand: Avatr
Avatr is positioned as a premium electric vehicle brand. It currently has headquarters in Shanghai and Munich, and it was formed via the collaboration of Changan Automobile, CATL, and tech giant Huawei.
By being partly owned by Huawei, Avatr is a highly tech-forward company that provides its cars with hyper-modern interior and exterior aesthetics.
Photo from AvatrIn the global scene, Avatr is offering a total of six different models, which include:
- Avatr 06
- Avatr 07
- Avatr 11
- Avatr 12
- Avatr 011
- Avatr 012
Of particular interest among these is the Avatr 11 and 7, which, as mentioned above, might be among the three that Changan Philippines previously showed as silhouettes.
The Avatr 11 is a midsize five-door crossover with a coupe-like design propelled by a single (rear-wheel-drive), or dual (all-wheel-drive) setup. In its most powerful form, the Avatr 11 can generate up to 578 horsepower (hp) and 650 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. It also has a range of up to 730 kilometers (km), according to the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
Key features of the Avatr 11 include an aerodynamic exterior design with flush door handles, front row dual zero-gravity seats with ventilation and massage functionality, a Meridian sound system, a desktop-like infotainment display powered by the Harmony operating system, and the Huawei advanced driving system (ADS) 4.
Photo from AvatrNotably, the Huawei ADS 4 comes with a 360-degree avoidance system together with a semi-autonomous driving feature.
Meanwhile, the Avatr 7 is still within the midsize crossover segment but with a more sport utility vehicle (SUV) - like body. It is also a five-seater with largely the same creature comforts and on-board tech as the Avatr 11.
Photo from AvatrThe said model is available in an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) version capable of delivering up to 492 hp, at least for the higher-tier dual-motor variants.
Likewise noteworthy is the Avatr 7’s 35.4-inch 4K panoramic instrument panel, which goes together with its 15.6-inch 2K infotainment system.
Upcoming brand: Deepal
Deepal is an automotive brand under the Changan group that focuses on mass-market models. It was formed back in 2008 as a brand under the merged Changan New Energy and Changan Automobile Energy Division.
As previously stated, Changan Philippines showed a silhouette of what could be the L07 sedan - a midsize sedan that is available with a fully-electric powertrain or an EREV system.
Photo from DeepalThe Deepal L07’s EREV version can produce up to 238 hp and 290 Nm of torque. It can likewise cover up to 1,500 km, according to the Chinese automaker. On the otherhand, its BEV version can dish out up to 258 hp.
Similar to its Avatr cousins, the Deepal L07 was equipped with plenty of amenities and several automotive Huawei tech bits. Specifically, it also has the Huawei ADS 4, and a minimalist cabin with sizeable displays.

- Deepal G318
- Deepal S09
- Deepal S07
- Deepal S05
- Deepal L07
Final thoughts
For now, we aren’t sure which Avatr and Deepal cars are coming to the Philippines just yet, but the ones we mentioned above are good representations of what their respective lineups can offer.
Furthermore, Changan Philippines has yet to declare exact dates for Avatr and Deepal’s local introductions, but chances are, they will be launched in the first half of 2026.
