BYD Cars Philippines facilitated the turnover of the eight BYD Dolphin units to the City Government of Muntinlupa.Specifically, the partnership facilitated the handover of eight brand-new BYD Dolphin battery electric vehicles (BEV) to the Muntinlupa Police Station.
Per the Chinese car brand’s local arm, these units will be utilized by Philippine National Police (PNP) operations within the city. This includes enhanced police visibility, daily law enforcement, and road patrols.
Notably, the usage of all-electric vehicles is seen and a cleaner and more cost-effective solution for the PNP’s Muntinlupa arm. These cars, after all, require less maintenance, have lower operating costs, and thus more time on the road.
“The acquisition of the BYD Dolphins is a part of the long-term investment in clean energy that Muntinlupa has already committed to,” City Government of Muntinlupa Mayor Rozzano Rufino "Ruffy" Bunoan Biazon said.

Muntinlupa likewise considers the turnover of all-electric police cars as a significant milestone. In line with what was mentioned by Mayor Biazon above, the city has a long-term plan for sustainability that doesn’t just encompass police fleets, but also green transport initiatives.
