The engineers at Mazda have always followed the ancient Japanese philosophy of Jinba Ittai or “horse and rider as one.” They have always aimed at offering an alluring experience by creating harmony between the driver and the vehicle. The 2019 Mazda 2 Hatchback is a car that offers this type of harmony. It is one of the best if not “the” best hatchbacks in the Philippines market.
The interior on the 2 Hatchback is pretty decent. The headroom is enough even for a person with above average height and the seats are comfortable too. You get a steering wheel that is equipped with buttons that control the media volume, call answering etc. One of the interesting features of this model is that you get paddle shifters along with automatic lights & wipers. The instrument cluster consists of a large tachometer at the centre with two trip computers on either side. What comes as an advantage is a heads-up display which allows you to keep your eyes on the road all the time. The infotainment system is easy to use but is devoid of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For charging purpose, the Mazda has provided two USB charging ports which prove to be sufficient. You get dual climate control along with the circular AC vents & control knobs which give the interior a bit of a premium-ness. The rear row of seats is not that comfortable though. There is the absence of air vents, central armrest, cup holders, and even charging points. However, the elevated seats can comfortably accommodate two adults.
The Mazda 2 looks very bold and stylish when compared to the other hatchbacks in the market. Its large bonnet very elegantly slopes onto the top of the front grille. The large size grille looks pretty daunting but goes well with the size of the bonnet. The DRLs are perfectly aligned on the corners and the sidelines on the Mazda give it a sporty look. The designers have kept the rear end of the car simple yet subtle. The boot space on this car is very small at 250-litre only, however, you always have the option of folding the rear seats and increase the space if or when required.
The Mazda 2 is equipped with G-Vectoring Control (GVC) which is the company’s signature technology to improve the driving experience. The GVC works by reducing the engine torque and shifting the load on the front wheels during the start of a turn. At the end of the turn, the load is again shifted to rear wheels and the torque is recovered. Hence, cornering stability is improved. The overall reliability fn this car increases because of this GVC which offers an immersible experience to the driver along with other safety features.
The 2 Hatchback comes with a 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-G 16-valve engine that produces 106 hp of power and a torque of 139 Nm. It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission with a Sports mode that can be switched on at the push of a button. The fuel mileage is roughly around 11 kmpl, but with the Sports mode turned off.
Mazda has put enough efforts into this model to ensure the safety of passengers. The Hatchback is equipped with SRS airbags for the driver and the passenger not only at the front as well as on the sides. The brakes are equipped with ABS & EBD to provide traction on slippery roads and the vehicle stability and control system further aids in that effort. It also has crash sensors, rear parking sensors, engine immobilizer, and keyless system for additional safety.
The price tag of Php 965,000 seems to be a bit high as opposed to its competitors but the Mazda 2 has a lot of advantages over them in the areas of comfort, safety, and performance. The G-Vectoring Control by Mazda is a revolutionary tech that has changed the face of driving experience as a whole. If you are one of those who prefer to spend a little more on comfort and performance rather than being content with what you have, then the Mazda 2 Hatchback is definitely the hatchback you should go for.
I was not really a fan of a Hatchback ever. The rear appeal of a hatchback was really not my type of hype. But on coming across this high riding city performer, my prior belief was a little shaken. Learning more about the hatchback version of this Mazda was the real head turner for me. Honestly this is not the
The only fuel type variant available for this car is petrol. Though the features are satisfactory and reliable I am still adjusting to the dearth of mileage in the car. I came across this car through one of my colleagues. It has all the necessary features to make your drive safe and secure. It has a 1500cc displacement engine with
I bought the Mazda 2 hatchback recently. Although it was primarily my wife’s choice and she liked it overall other hatchbacks in the Philippines market, which is actually a true fact. The car features an attractive exterior design and looks different from all other hatchbacks in its segment. The headlamp design is unique and the front fascia has a unique
Mazda did well in balancing performance, comfort, looks, and efficiency into its smallest offering. The Mazda 2 is quite an attractive car in terms of looks and performance. The design will definitely age well with its performance. Its certain to keep its owner happy even after a new model comes along. The SkyActiv technology is a wonder. It offers very
This premium hatchback by Mazda is pretty nice and appealing in terms of looks and also offers a decent fuel economy. I own this car for almost two months now and so far it has given me the best riding experience. The steering wheel collaborates pretty well with the 1.5-liter SkyActiv petrol engine to deliver a very engaging performance which
The Mazda 2 Hatchback has nice looks and returns an impressive fuel economy with more than 23.5kmpl on the highway. Driving the car is a pleasant experience. The 1.5-litre SkyActiv petrol engine matches the engaging feel of the steering wheel. While the 107bhp and 139Nm may seem a bit low, trust me, it outputs a commendable performance. The light steering
I am not so erudite in the means of car. I was looking a car to drive to the office and for my conjugal purpose. The one I was having was not performing well so I decided to buy a new one to use for my regular constraint. I found Mazda 2 hatchback very interesting because it has everything which
