Zigwheels PH top 5 most popular EVs
List showcase diverse range of models popular among site visitors
Electric vehicles (EV) have gained popularity in the Philippines in the past few years. Motorists cannot deny the benefits offered by these new-energy automobiles not only in terms of efficiency but also in the perks they get due to the government’s push for electrification.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What are the top five popular EVs on Zigwheels Philippines?
Per the website, the top five popular EVs are the BYD Atto 3, BYD Dolphin, Kia EV 6, Jetour Ice Cream EV, and MG 4 EV.What is the price range of the five models?
The said models have a price range from P699,000 to P3.788 million. On that note, we have compiled a list of the most popular EVs on our website to help car buyers have an idea of what many of our visitors prefer when choosing an emissions-free vehicle.
So, without further ado, here are the five most sought-after electric cars — according to our data.
MG 4 EV
The Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation-owned British marque has introduced several electrified models in the past years and the MG 4 EV — currently ranked number five on our website — is one of them. It was released in tandem with the Marvel R, which I have reviewed not too long ago. You can read more about it, here.
Our writer Cesar Guiderone Miguel was able to sample the MG 4 EV and noted that not only is it one of the most affordable EVs on the market today, but it also is one agile speedster. In his review, he lauded its decent power and economy despite being driven in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Here are some of the specifications of its all-electric powertrain:
Electric motor |
Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) |
Number of electric motors |
1 |
Battery (in kilowatt-hours) |
125 |
Maximum power output (in hp) |
167 |
Maximum torque output (in Nm) |
250 |
All-electric range (in km) |
350 |
Per Miguel, the MG 4 EV was “quick to accelerate.” He pointed out that the speedometer “happily climbs up to reach 60 kilometers per hour, which is supremely useful for overtaking on the highway.”
Further, he appreciated its “stability and minimal body roll when cornering at speed.” He also admired its steering input, which he said was “tuned just right so as not to make it too sensitive while providing some feedback to its pilot.”
He was able to drive it in mild weather, and in heavy traffic, the EV clocked in around six to seven kilometers (km) per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
The MG 4 EV is listed on our website in a single variant. There it is priced at P1.469 million.
Jetour Ice Cream EV
Fourth on our list is the Jetour Ice Cream EV, a compact city EV that has captured the hearts of many thanks to its cute looks as well as it being one of the first few small electric cars to arrive in the Philippine EV arena.
At the time of writing, the Jetour Ice Cream EV competes with the likes of the BYD Seagull, VinFast VF 3, and Wuling Gameboy — proving that the small EV segment is not only growing but is becoming a competitive category.
We are yet to review the cute electric car, but for those wanting to check out its powertrain specifications, below is a table with relevant information:
Electric motor |
PMSM |
Number of electric motors |
1 |
Battery (in kilowatt-hours) |
13.9 |
Maximum power output (in hp) |
26.8 |
Maximum torque output (in Nm) |
85 |
All-electric range (in km) |
170 |
It’s not difficult to understand why many Filipino EV buyers on our website check out the Ice Cream EV from Jetour Auto Philipines. Its styling may appeal to many female drivers as well as those who simply want to drive a charming electric commuter.
Speaking of which, it is listed on our website in a single variant with four adorable hues, which we have listed below:
- Blueberry Purple
- Matcha Green
- Vanilla
- Vanity Pink
The Jetour Ice Cream EV is available through Zigwheels Philippines at P699,000.
Kia EV 6
Taking up a bulk of the upmarket EV segment is the Kia EV 6. The Ayala-led arm of the South Korean car brand formally launched its flagship electric car to the local market in the first quarter of 2023 and brought with it an impressive roster of accolades from award-winning organizations worldwide. Here are a few examples:
- 2022 European Car of the Year (2022 Car of the Year Awards)
- 2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year (2023 North American Car of the Year Awards)
- 2023 World Performance Car (2023 World Car Awards)
- Best Family Electric SUV (2024 What Car? Awards)
- Best Large Family Car (2024 Parkers New Car Awards)
With such a resume, it’s easy to see why many Filipino car buyers are eager to check out the Kia EV 6 on our website. Here are its all-electric powertrain specifications:
Electric motor |
PMSM |
Number of electric motors |
1 |
Battery (in kilowatt-hours) |
77.4 |
Maximum power output (in hp) |

Seeing how much power and torque the Kia EV 6 is capable of, we at Zigwheels Philippines are also eager to get our hands on this electric crossover utility vehicle.
Performance seekers can take home the Hyundai-owned brand’s offering for P3.788 million on our website.
BYD Dolphin
Another brand under Ayala’s mobility arm, BYD Cars Philippines earns the second spot in our top five EV list with the Dolphin. One can say that the nameplate acts as a herald to the slew of sea creature-based electric models released by the brand through its salvo of car launches in 2024.
Namely these are the Seagull, Sealion 6 DM-i, Seal, and Seal 5 DM-i.
The BYD Dolphin has gained popularity thanks to its early arrival in the segment, making it a staple to early adopters. As a result, the model was even utilized for a pilot study that checked the feasibility of using EVs in the ride-hailing industry.
Our Managing Editor Ruben Manahan IV reported sometime in June that BYD Cars Philippines teamed up with Grab Philippines to conduct the said study.
Relatedly, ACMobility Senior Manager Mikko David mentioned to the author that the BYD Seal 5 DM-i is eyed to be offered to fleet owners and operators, who are conscious of the carbon footprint their vehicles leave while plying our country’s thoroughfares.
Here are some of the BYD Dolphin’s specifications, powertrain-wise:
Electric motor |
PMSM |
Number of electric motors |
1 |
Battery (in kilowatt-hours) |
44.9 |
Maximum power output (in hp) |
93 |
Maximum torque output (in Nm) |
180 |
All-electric range (in km) |
405 |
The BYD Dolphin is listed on Zigwheels Philippines in a single trim with a sticker price of P1.398 million.
BYD Atto 3
The top spot for our most popular EV list is the BYD Atto 3.
As someone who has driven the electric crossover, I would say that the ranking reflects the current trend among Filipino car buyers as the BYD Atto 3 seems to check all the right boxes for car shoppers in the country.
Sustainable, check. Can carry cargo, check. Can seat up to five people, check.
I was able to sit behind the wheel of the nameplate and took part in a media drive that saw local journalists take the BYD Atto 3 from Bonifacio Global City to Baguio City. The goal was to showcase the range of the vehicle (with the help of professionals who managed our drive and radioed us tips along the way, of course), and it conquered the route with very little to no need of plugging into a charging station.
In the article I wrote, I noted how commendable the handling was while passing through the twisties of Asin Road. Despite ferrying four occupants and their luggage, it still generated enough “oomph” to brave various ascending roadways. You can read more about my experience, here.
Likewise, I was able to put the BYD Atto 3 through its paces in real-world driving conditions. To summarize the test, I was able to drive the vehicle from Santa Rosa Laguna to Pasay City, then to Kawit Cavite and back to Pasay, and finally back to Santa Rosa Laguna with very little time spent on charging stations.
When I came home, I still had battery left, which allowed me to make a back-and-forth trip to my son’s school before I had to return the unit.
Impressive? Quite. You can read more about it, here.
For those wanting to check the numbers, here are the powertrain specifications of the BYD Atto 3 that I drove (Premium variant):
