Company to align offerings with customer demands

Porsche sales dip by 16% in H1 2026

MANILA: Porsche’s global sales dipped by 16 percent for the first half of the year.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is Porsche's best model for the first half of 2026?

The Porsche Cayenne is the company's best seller for the said time period.
  • What is Porsche's best market for the first six months of the year?

Porsche's best market so far is North America.
  • According to the German carmaker, reasons for the drop in its turnover include ending production of the internal combustion engine-powered Porsche 718 and the expiration of tax incentives for electric and hybrid vehicles in the United States (US).

“With around 122,000 customer deliveries in the first half of 2026, we are below the same period last year but in line with our expectations,” Porsche Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing Matthias Becker was quoted as saying.

“We have been delivering the Cayenne Electric to our customers since the end of June, and we are pleased with the positive feedback from our dealer network. The recently unveiled new products, such as the 911 GT3 S/C and the Taycan’s E-Shift system featuring virtual gear changes, will also delight Porsche fans around the world. We are already receiving very positive feedback from the industry media,” he added.

For comparison’s sake, Porsche sold 146,391 automobiles globally in the same time period last year. As the company executive mentioned, the brand turned over some 122,000 vehicles in the first six months of 2026.

Porsche’s sales are currently being driven by the Cayenne

Being the strongest model in the lineup, sales-wise, the nameplate contributed some 38,141 to the Stuttgart-headquartered auto firm’s overall sales for the first quarter of 2026. Nevertheless, compared to the same time period last year, its sales dwindled by nine percent.

It is followed by the Porsche 911, which sold 30,534 units between January and June. For the iconic nameplate, sales actually increased compared to last year, bringing the numbers up by 19 percent.

Up next is the Porsche Macan, which sold a total of 35,315 units overall. Out of the said figure, 19,695 examples were combustion-engined models, which Porsche continues to offer alongside the electric version in most countries outside Europe.

The Porsche Macan Electric accounted for 15,620 units.

Sales of the luxury crossover sport utility vehicle reflect a decline of 22 percent compared to the units released by the automaker last year.

The Porsche Panamera, on the other hand, sold a total of 9,308 units, which translates to a decline of 38 percent for the nameplate.

Further, the Porsche 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman achieved 2,789 deliveries, down 73 percent from the previous year.

Commenting on the declining sales, Porsche explained that Macan sales went down due to “the slower-than-expected ramp-up of electromobility, the strong performance last year, and the expiration of tax incentives for electric and hybrid vehicles in the US.”

As for the Porsche Panamera, deliveries were down “due to a temporary product gap in China, one of the strongest Panamera markets.” This prompted the marque to introduce the market-specific Panamera Pure edition, which launched in April.

Finally, sales for the Porsche 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman were understandably low as production of the 718 model ended in October 2025.

    Sales per region

Broken down, regional sales reveal Porsche’s strongest market for the first half of 2026 to be North America. There, the company sold 37,712 units.

In Europe (excluding Germany), Porsche sold 30,278 vehicles. In its home market (Germany), the company made 14,938 deliveries.

Porsche sold some 14,501 units in China, while in other emerging markets, the brand sold 24,877 cars.

Overall, each region saw some form of decline, but the company believes that the sales structure remained well balanced across the individual sales regions.

Here is how the sales for each market stack up against Porsche’s sales in the same time period in 2025:

    Aligning products with customer demand

Looking ahead, Porsche stated that its strategy for the remainder of the year is to consistently align its offerings with customer demands.

“We are consistently aligning our offering with customer demand and further sharpening our model portfolio. In the autumn, we will present additional details of our Strategy 2035 as part of our Capital Markets Day,” Becker commented.
