AAP temporarily suspends all motorsports permits

MANILA: The Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) has suspended all motorsports permits in the country following President Ferdinand Marcos Junior’s declaration of a State of National Energy Emergency.

Per the institution, this covers permits for all AAP-sanctioned motorsport events and activities. All pending and new applications for organizing permits are placed on hold until further notice.

 

AAP advises event organizers to defer preparations requiring official AAP sanctioning while the suspension remains in effect.

The move — AAP noted — aligns with the national government’s Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport, which is a whole-of-government response aimed at ensuring the stability of the country’s energy supply amid global disruptions. 

“Recognizing that motorsports is inherently dependent on petroleum-based fuels, the AAP acknowledges its responsibility to support national energy conservation efforts and help ensure supply stability during this critical period,” AAP wrote.

Suspended events

Following this, Toyota Motor Philippines’ 2026 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup is on hold, which has three legs remaining in the calendar.

Mazda Philippines, too, suspended all motorsports activities due to the oil crisis.
