BWT Alpine F1 team's A522 sports new livery, power unit

MANILA: The BWT Alpine F1 team recently unveiled its 2022 Formula 1 season contender, the A522. 

The A522 is finished in French sports car brand Alpine's signature blue color that is matched with pink, which is the official color of the team's sponsor for 2022, BWT. 

Meanwhile, the BWT Alpine F1 team said it also "presented a ‘flipped’ livery with pink becoming the most prominent color," a "unique livery (to) be used for the first two races" of the F1  season. 

The team added that during the past 18 months, it has worked "to create the A522 against the backdrop of sweeping regulation changes introduced for the 2022 campaign," which includes new aerodynamic requirements for the car. 

Alongside a completely new chassis and car build, BWT Alpine is proud to showcase its all-new RE22 power unit, "marking yet another chapter in the French car manufacturer’s illustrious heritage in Formula 1." The RE22 is sourced from Alpine's parent company Renault. 

The engine specification and packaging has allowed the team some extra freedom in shaping the car's body to follow the new technical regulations. The A522's power unit is able to adjust for the new and sustainable fuel that will be used for this year's F1 cars, the E10. 

Race winner Esteban Ocon and two-time world champion Fernando Alonso will compete with the A522.
