BYD, Kia, Volvo vehicles named top 3 WCOTY cars

MANILA: The Word Car Awards has named its top three cars for this year’s Word Car of the Year event.

According to the organization, the top three nameplates are the BYD Seal, Kia EV9, and Volvo EX30. They are followed by finalists Ford Bronco, Hyundai Kona (Kona Electric), Hyundai Santa Fe, Mazda CX-90, Subaru Crosstrek, Toyota Prius, and Volkswagen ID.7.

Other candidates include the Abarth 500e, BYD Atto3, BYD Dolphin, Chevrolet Trax, Citroen C3 Aircross, GWM Haval H6, GWM ORA 07, GWM WEY 03, Honda e:Ny1, KG Mobility Torres, Lexus LBX, Maxus Mifa 9, Mazda CX-50, MG One, and the Mitsubishi Outlander, to name a few.

Per the Word Car Awards the competing vehicles must be produced in volumes of at least 10,000 units per year. In addition, they must be priced below the luxury-car level in their primary markets, and must be “on-sale” in at least two major markets, which are China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, and the United States.

In addition, those vying for the World Car of the Year title can also fight for other categories like World Performance Car, World Urban Car, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design of the Year.

All vehicles eligible for other World Car award categories are automatically eligible for World Car Design of the Year.
