Chevrolet Philippines showcased the ninth-generation Malibu

MANILA: The recently launched Malibu received center stage at the Chevrolet's booth at the ongoing Manila International Auto Show. The ninth-generation Malibu is expected to be taking on the likes of Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

The 2018 Malibu is driven by a new turbocharged 2.0-litre Ecotec engine instead of the 2.4-litre unit used in the outgoing model. The engine manages to generate more power in comparison and can deliver a maximum output of 250 PS along with a peak torque of 352 Nm. The Chevrolet Malibu 2018 features a nine-speed automatic transmission system.  

The 2018 Malibu LTZ has got a lot lower and longer body, unlike its predecessors. The dynamic looking D-segment sedan retains its signature design and split grille look, however, the front of the vehicle still gets a unique design. The 2018 Malibu is bigger in size than the previous generation but has still managed to lose around 136 kg of its weight by using lightweight high strength steel.

The interiors of the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu is pretty exquisite with soft curves and angles. The sedan is blessed with a spacious cabin and comfortable seats. It also gets a wide dashboard design. At the center of the dashboard, is a large touchscreen featuring Chevrolet’s MyLink system. Chevrolet has also provided a nine-channel Bose audio system along with wireless charging feature for smartphones. The D-segment sedan also boasts of a panoramic sunroof.

Safety and other features of the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu include Lane Keep Assist, Stability Control, Front Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Front Pedestrian Detection, Forward Automatic Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Side Blind Zone. The ninth generation Malibu also gets eight airbags. The price of the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ will start at PHP 2,131,888.
