Plenty of cutting-edge cars were previewed for the local market
MANILA: The 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), which ran from April 9-12, 2026, ended on a high note for car buyers and participating brands.

BYD
BYD Cars Philippines, a company under Ayala-led ACMobility, has previewed two rides at the 2026 MIAS. These are the Atto 2 and the Sealion 7.
Photo by Cesar Guiderone MiguelBoth nameplates are all-electric crossovers, with the Atto 2 being a front-wheel-drive model, while the Sealion 7 is all-wheel-drive.
At maximum, the BYD Atto 2 can produce up to 172.3 horsepower (hp) and 290 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque from its single motor setup. The BYD Sealion 7, on the other hand, can dish out 523 hp and 690 Nm of torque from its dual motor setup.
BYD’s local arm has already started the Sealion 7’s pre-order period with a P50,000 reservation fee.
Denza
Denza Philippines has previewed the B5, B8, and Z9 GT at the recently concluded 2026 MIAS. For the unaware, the B5 and B8 are both off-road-capable sport utility vehicles (SUV), whereas the Z9 GT is a wagon.
Photo by Arcen Gabriel NacordaNotably, the Denza B5 and B8 will be launched this coming April 23 at the ASEANA Open Grounds in Paranaque City. The local introduction of the Z9 GT, meanwhile, is yet to be announced by the brand’s local arm.
Denza also displayed the D9 multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at the said event.
Geely
Geely Motor Philippines has previewed the upcoming EX2 all-electric hatchback at the 2026 MIAS.

Per the Department of Energy's spec sheet for the said model, it is a rear-wheel-drive nameplate that can produce up to 113 hp and 150 Nm of torque. It also has a range of 325 kilometers.

Morris Garages
Introduced at MIAS was the latest version of the MG5 sedan. Known as the MG5 Prestige, it retails at P888,888 and boasts several improvements to its on-board amenities and exterior design.
For the model year 2026, the MG5 Prestige now boats a power sunroof, LED lighting fixtures, a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a new 1.5-liter mill paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
At maximum, the said engine can produce up to 108 hp and 142 Nm of torque.
Likewise, the upcoming G50 PHEV was showcased for event goers. No specs were shared for this model as of this year’s MIAS, but it is slated to be retailed at P1.398 million. It is also available for reservations with a fee of P1,000.
Changan
Changan Auto Philippines, under Inchcape Philippines, has introduced the new CS35 Max at the 2026 MIAS.
Photo by Cesar Guiderone MiguelThe aforementioned is the updated version of the CS35, and it now boasts a larger body, more power, and heaps more features. For reference, the said nameplate still uses a 1.5-liter BlueCore gasoline mill, but it can now produce up to 180 hp and 300 Nm of torque.
Price-wise, the Changan CS35 Max Lite is priced at P1.109 million, while the Max Luxe retails at P1.199 million.
Changan also showed off the next-generation CS55 Plus at the 2026 MIAS. No Philippine-market specs were confirmed, but its Chinese-market version can deliver 182 hp and 310 Nm of torque.
Also notable is the CS55 Plus’s abundance of on-board tech. It comes with a full complement of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), a 10.5-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 14.6-inch infotainment display.
GWM
Great Wall Motor (GWM) Philippines has previewed three nameplates at 2026 MIAS. These are the Ora 5, Haval H7, and the Tank 700 Hi-4Z.
Photo by Cesar Guiderone MiguelFor the unaware, the Ora 5 is a subcompact all-electric hatchback. It is fairly larger compared to the now discontinued Ora 3, and it boasts more amenities as well. On the other hand, the Haval H7 and the Tank 700 Hi-4Z are both PHEV off-road SUV models, with the latter being positioned as a premium offering.
As GWM’s local arm shared, the Ora 05 will be introduced within the year. The Haval H7 is also available for pre-orders, whereas the Tank 700 Hi-4Z will be sold as a special order from the brand.
Interestingly, the GWM Tank 700 Hi-4Z was launched a mere two weeks prior to 2026 MIAS. This means that the Philippine market was the second-ever to receive this model.
Kia
Kia Motor Philippines, under the stewardship of ACMobility, rolled out the EV5 all-electric SUV at 2026 MIAS. As of this publishing, it retails at P2.298 million for the GL and P2.698 million for the top-spec GLS.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaPropelling the top-spec GLS is an electric motor paired with an 88.1-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery. It can produce up to 215 hp and 310 Nm of torque, and it has a range of 550 kilometers (km).
Jaecoo and Omoda
Jaecoo and Omoda Philippines has introduced the all-new J5 SHS-H at the 2026 MIAS. The said model, which is under the Jaecoo brand, retails at P999,000 for the Comfort trim, and at P1.109 million for the top-spec Luxury.

It also has a total range of under 1,000 km, and a wealth of comfort features. The aforementioned includes a LEVEL 2 intelligent driving ADAS system.
UAAGI
The United Asia Automotive Group Incorporated was at 2026 MIAS in full force, with one of the largest floor areas occupied by brands such as Chery, Jetour, Radar, BAIC, Lynk & Co, and Foton.
For starters, Jetour introduced the Gaia sub-brand at the said event. This came together with the introduction of the all-new G700 SUV. At launch, the model retails for P4.488 million.

Lynk & Co, on the other hand, showcased the limited-edition 06 Origin SE Sport for the general public for the first time ever. The said nameplate is priced at P1.134 million.
BAIC also brought out the B40e rEV Trailmaster at 2026 MIAS. Currently, this model is priced at P2.888 million.
GAC
GAC International Philippines rolled out the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) variant of the GS8 and the GN8 PHEV at the 2026 MIAS.
The GAC GS8 HEV is a large full-size SUV with sharper styling details than the older non-HEV variant. It also retains a 4x4 drivetrain, but its new 2.0-liter turbocharged Mega Wave powertrain is peppier with a maximum output of 188 hp and 320 Nm of torque.

With regard to pricing, both the GAC GS8 HEV and GN8 PHEV starts at P2.488 million.
212
Chinese SUV-specialist 212 debuts for the Philippine market at 2026 MIAS. The marque’s first-ever product for the local market is the T01 SUV - a ladder-frame, neo-retro-styled ride that is said to be capable of handling tough off-road conditions.

It also sports front and rear locking differentials, selectable terrain models, front and rear five-link suspension systems, and a ground clearance of up to 235 millimeters (mm).
As of its introduction to the Philippines, the 212 T01 retails at P2.688 million.
Deepal
The brand’s initial lineup of products for the local market are the S05 BEV and range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) and the G318 REEV.
