MIAS 2026: Newly-revealed MG5 Prestige in 8 pictures

MANILA: Morris Garages (MG) Motor Philippines has rolled out the new MG5 Prestige as the 2026 Manila International Auto Show. 

Per the brand's local arm, the aforementioned is the latest evolution of its popular compact sedan, which saw significant improvements to its on-board features and design. 

Apart from the MG5 Prestige, 2026 MIAS also saw the preview of the MG G50 plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV).

MG5 Prestige

The MG5 Prestige is the updated version of the MG5 nameplate. It retains a 1.5-liter engine, but it has a new tune rated at 108 horsepower (hp) and 142 Newton-meters of torque. The said mill is linked to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). 

Size-wise, the model is 4,607 millimeters (mm) long, 1,818 mm wide, and 1,489 mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,680 mm. With that kind of size figures, the model has a 512-liter trunk, and ample roof for up to five occupants (including the driver). 

Some noteworthy exterior features of the MG5 Prestige include, but are not limited to: 

• Power sunroof
• 16-inch two-tone alloy wheels
• LED lighting fixtures

Inside the model is a well-arranged cockpit with easy-to-reach controls and generous room for heads, elbows, and legs. Its seats are upholstered in leather, and everyone inside is kept comfortable by a manual air-conditioning system with rear vents. 

Also available for the MG5 Prestige is a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

Plus, the model comes packaged with a reverse camera with dynamic guidelines, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring, and many other safety features. 

As of its launch, the all-new MG5 Prestige retails at P888,888. 

MG G50 PHEV

As mentioned above, MG Motor Philippines previewed the PHEV version of the G50 Plus multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at the 2026 MIAS. 

For now, the company has not yet said when the G50 PHEV will launch in the local market. However, it is already slated to be retailed at P1.398 million, and its pre-selling period has already opened with a minimum reservation fee of P1,000.

Concerning powertrains, the MG G50 PHEV uses a 1.5-liter gasoline engine linked to a dedicated hybrid transmission. At maximum, it can generate up to 294 hp and 280 Nm of torque. It also has an electric-only range of 95 kilometers (km) and an overall range of 1,415 km.

• Dual 12.3-inch digital displays
• Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• ADAS features
• Three-row seating with second row captain seats
• Panoramic sunroof
