Dongfeng to launch Maverick in PH?

MANILA: Dongfeng seems to be looking at adding a passenger van to its Philippine roster soon.

Based on Memorandum MVL-2026-5046 from the Land Transportation Office (LTO), the Chinese automotive marque has received approval and proper classification for the Dongfeng Maverick.

While waiting for the brand’s local distributor to officially announce its plans on the aforementioned nameplate, here are the specifications of the newly-LTO-approved Dongfeng Maverick as stated in the LTO documentation.

Vehicle specifications

On paper, the model has the following measurements:

Gross vehicle weight (in kilograms [kg>)	4,200

Powering the vehicle is a 2.3-liter Euro 4-rated diesel-fed engine that allows it to go as fast as 145 kilometers per hour.

Further, the model approved in the LTO document seats 15 (including the driver) and wears 16-inch wheels wrapped in 215/75 tires.

Given the initial specifications, the LTO identified the Dongfeng Maverick as a utility vehicle under the M2 class.

Notably, the "Maverick" nameplate isn't utilized by the Chinese manufacturer in other regions. However, the specifications in the LTO-published memorandum are quite close to those of the Dongfeng Bigvan, or "Yufeng", which is sold in China, Africa, and the Middle East.
