Dongfeng Nammi

Upon entering the Dongfeng Nammi, you are greeted by an abundance of soft-touch materials in the front row thanks to its PVC leather-wrapped instrument panel and door trim with a nice, premium stitching. In addition, despite being a hatchback, this EV’s cabin has loads of room both at the front and rear, ensuring that five passengers can move freely and comfortably even on long-distance trips. Its PVC leather seats are plush and just very supportive.  

Moreover, owners of this EV are given a high-tech cockpit that comes with a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster, a multifunctional leather steering wheel, and an electronic column lever. All passengers can enjoy a 12-inch LCD HD touchscreen infotainment display, which is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity and mobile phone mirroring and is connected to a 6-speaker sound system for an immersive experience. 

A downside of its cabin, however, is the lack of physical buttons or switches on its dashboard. Like other newer-gen EVs, the majority of the car’s features are touch-controlled via the infotainment display, which might be a minus for other drivers. But, on the plus side, this EV comes with a wireless charger, a front USB Type-A port, a front 12V accessory port, and an ambient lighting system.

The Dongfeng Nammi measures 4,030 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height. It has a 2,660 mm wheelbase and runs on chunky-looking 17-inch ‘Five Shooting Star’ wheels.

The Dongfeng Nammi features a cute, hypermodern design that has a hint of sportiness to it. At the front, it has a very sleek demeanor illuminated by smart-looking automatic crystal LED headlights with DRLs. An elegant black lower grille and a chrome strip in the middle of its DRLs give it a nice, expensive front end. 

Walking around this EV, you’ll notice that it has a futuristic silhouette accentuated by a white roof, which gives off an appealing floating roof-like appearance. It is also given frameless door windows and concealed door handles for more modernity. Additionally, its sporty personality is evident in its side view courtesy of its blacked-out pillars and side garnishes, as well as its two-toned exterior mirrors. Meanwhile, its very lively character carries over to its rear. It comes with round LED tail lamps that look cute and energetic at the same time.

The Dongfeng Nammi utilizes a suspension combination of a MacPherson Strut at the front and a Torsion Beam non-independent type at the rear. This EV hatchback is very nimble to maneuver and is enjoyable to drive even through bumper-to-bumper traffic. It also has decent absorption of bumps and uneven concrete pavements for a car its size. However, there is a tendency for its steering to lack enough engagement or response when you are hitting turns or corners at high speeds. But, overall, this EV delivers a very light and comfortable riding experience for all passengers.

The Dongfeng Nammi runs on a Permanent Magnetic Synchronous Motor that generates a maximum power output of 70 kW and a maximum torque of 160 Nm. Its electric motor is paired with a 42.3 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery pack that delivers a CLTC driving range of up to 430 km and has a direct current (DC) fast charging time of 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes. It is equipped with three drive modes: Eco, Comfort, and Sport.

Off the line, this EV hatchback is surprisingly quick and responsive. Thanks to its peppy electric motor, you’ll be able to overtake slower vehicles on the highway. It delivers top-notch efficiency even through traffic at low speeds, making it a great ride for your daily commute in the city. 

The Dongfeng Nammi is equipped with several advanced driver assistance systems and a fully automated parking assist. Its ADAS suite includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping and centering assists, single lane traffic jam and highway assists, as well as an intelligent high beam control. It also comes with a 360-degree camera and front and rear parking radars among others. 

Furthermore, its braking setup is supported by an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control, traction control system, hydraulic brake assist, and hill-start assist system. It utilizes ventilated discs at the front, while solid discs at the rear.
